19 May 09. Next generation microwave power module launched by TMD. A brand new microwave power module (MPM) is being launched by TMD Technologies at the IEEE’s International Microwave Symposium in Boston, MA. The PTX8207 includes a “next generation” high power mini-TWT to provide a wider frequency range and higher power than previous models. The PTX8207 is specified to provide a mid-band power of 140 W and an operating frequency range of 4.5-18 GHz. The MPM includes a high performance modulator to permit pulsed or CW operation, which makes the PTX8207 equally suitable for radar, EW and communications applications. As with all TMD’s MPMs it provides high efficiency and reliability and is ultra compact and lightweight. All components are fully integrated, making installation of the MPM as a “drop in” amplifier block, simple and safe. The module has already generated considerable interest, and has secured orders from Europe and the Middle East. Demonstration units are available now for customer evaluation, and one will be at a potential USA customer’s premises at the time of the show. TMD Technologies can be found on Stand 2714 at the IEEE International Microwave Symposium on 9-11 June 2009, Boston, MA, USA.

19 May 09. GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms announced the ICS-1556B 4-channel 400MHz 14-bit ADC PMC Module. It is designed for demanding communication applications such as software defined radio, signals intelligence (SIGINT), digital receivers, and tactical communications where the requirement is to convert analog data into digital information in as close to real-time as possible. The ICS-1556B features very high sampling rate (400MHz) and very high resolution (14-bit): its combination of high sample rate and high resolution is unsurpassed in the industry. This unique sample rate/resolution combination, coupled with significant on-board signal processing capability, allows substantial simplification of VHF and some UHF radios. The ICS-1556B brings the ability to digitize these spectra directly, with minimal peripheral hardware: it allows Intermediate analog down conversion stages to be eliminated, meaning savings in space, weight, and power and allowing complete systems to be faster, more compact and more cost-effective.

19 May 09. ITT Corporation’s its file inspection application, PuriFile, has been successfully integrated into Owl Computing Technologies’ Tactical Cross-Domain Solution (TCDS). Owl’s TCDS is an IT infrastructure component of every major agency in the U.S. intelligence community, providing secure firewall-to-firewall protection between operations working at different security levels. Data and communications from one network domain to another unidirectiona
