25 Jan 09. Four entities representing the federal government, the aerospace and defense industries, the biopharmaceutical and healthcare industries and higher education in the US are joining forces to increase business and government use of an existing information infrastructure used for the trusted exchange of confidential information over the Internet. The four entities, which will operate under the name 4BF (Four Bridges Forum), represent the US’s leading Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Certification Authority bridges. They are the Federal PKI Architecture, which serves the entire range of federal agencies, CertiPath, serving the aerospace and defense industries, SAFE-BioPharma Association, serving the biopharmaceutical and healthcare industries, and HEBCA, serving the higher education sector in the United States. The entities signed a Memo of Agreement using digital signatures based on their individual and interoperable credentials. The 4BF certification bridges establish an infrastructure for the trusted exchange of confidential information and the reliable authentication of identities over the Internet. By providing a highly secure way to validate, trust, and manage identities of unknown participants in an Internet transaction, these bridges are essential to helping achieve the speed, efficiency and cost-savings inherent in use of the Internet for business transactions. This technology also improves interoperability across many different systems. (Source: Google)
28 Jan 09. The LONGBOW Limited Liability Company, a joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, recently marked the successful first powered flight of the LONGBOW Unmanned Aerial Systems Tactical Common Data Link Assembly (UTA) aboard the AH-64D Apache Block III attack helicopter.
28 Jan 09. Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing has introduced the SPMC/DPMC-214, a new high performance, rugged PMC card that offloads host processor cards from CANbus, MilCAN, and Utility Bus processing tasks. The SPMC/DPMC-214, available in both air- and conduction-cooled versions, speeds and eases the integration of the CANbus and MilCAN data communications protocols into embedded aerospace and defense systems deployed in harsh environments.
Jan 09. The 7700 is the latest family of Pentek software defined radio products and the first to feature the PCI Express (PCIe) form factor with advanced
connectivity options. Pentek’s new family is comprised of five products: the
Models 7741, 7742, 7750, 7751 and 7752. Each offers a unique set of software
radio features in a full-length PCI Express (PCIe) board with the very
latest Gen 2 PCIe x16 interface. This emerging standard for high-end PCs,
blade servers and enterprise computers delivers fast interconnect links for
economical, high-performance system solutions.
28 Jan 09. GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, announced the V7875 single board computer, responding to customer demand for 6U VME solutions with increased processing performance, lower power consumption, extensive I/O capability and advanced graphics. VITA 41.3 (VXS) for Gigabit Ethernet across the backplane is also optionally available.
Featuring the Intel® Core™2 Duo T9400 processor – which was designed for mobile applications in which power conservation is a key design factor – running at 2.53 GHz, the V7875 also provides up to 6 MBytes of L2 cache. This combination of high clock speed, large cache and fast front side bus, together with low heat dissipation, has been demonstrated to deliver exciting performance in multiprocessor DSP applications. Use of the Intel GM45 chip set provides fast access to up to 4 GBytes of DDR3 SDRAM and a x16 PCI Express interface to deliver exceptional performance for demanding applications.
