03 June 22. 14bis Supply Tracking Unveils New ‘Just In Time Medical Logistics’ for Emergency, Disaster and Humanitarian situations. 14bis Supply Tracking today announces the commercial availability of Just In Time Medical Logistics (JITMEDLOG) to get the right medical supplies to people on time.

It solves the common problem of sending the wrong type or amount of medical supplies, based on estimates (25 EpiPens, 10 units of type A blood, 20 rolls of gauze, etc.)—versus seeing exactly what is needed, when and where. The 14bis JITMEDLOG enables users to avoid harmful shortages or wasteful oversupply. It includes auto reordering and routing via desktop or mobile applications to help get supplies to where they’re needed. It also works on to ensure your data is available locally, even if there is intermittent Internet.

The commercial product was adapted from a U.S. Marine Corps Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) Award, part of the Navy’s SBIR/STTR Programs. These programs are primarily mission oriented. They provide companies the opportunity to become part of the national technology base that can feed both the military and private sectors of the nation.

For Emergency, Disaster and Humanitarian situations, the 14bis JITMEDLOG product leverages 14bis’ proprietary identity management and distributed decision-making capabilities so that supplies are tracked, routed and arrive on time to support patient care.

14bis Supply Tracking CEO, Eleanor Mitch, indicates that “Emergency, Disaster and Humanitarian logistics are often managed using different software systems at the Headquarters/centralized decision-making level, but stuck with Excel or analog methods at the local level. This means that there are delays in getting a good understanding of local medical logistics needs. From a data standpoint, there are delays in managing and delivering supplies as data must be reconciled. Even with premium last-mile logistics, currently there are many disparate software systems, hardware and sensors that each capture and show only one view or aspect of a situation. It’s as if medical logistics were currently functioning with blinders, which means that the right supplies aren’t delivered in good condition on time,” Mitch continued.

The product helps logisticians and suppliers in Disaster, Emergency and Humanitarian situations where patients aren’t getting medical supplies on time and in good condition, especially in areas not located in large cities, or with intermittent Internet.

According to Mitch, one key benefit of 14bis’ JITMEDLOG commercial product is distributed decision making, which is the process where several people or units are involved in making a decision. This makes it possible for greater local input and influence so that less time and fewer supplies are wasted.“ 14bis’ goal is to help reduce medical risk and cost while freeing up manpower to focus on saving lives.”

07 June 22. Milrem Robotics launches command and control for robotic systems at Eurosatory.

The European leading robotics and autonomous systems developer Milrem Robotics will launch their command and control (C2) system for intelligent unmanned systems at Eurosatory 2022.

Milrem Robotics’ solution integrates multiple different unmanned aerial and ground assets (UxV) into a composite command and control system and merges sensor and effector data from multiple payloads. It allows the constant monitoring and controlling of the UxV systems’ most important variables, such as energy status, fault conditions, operating parameters, built-in diagnostic tests, initialization, and configurations.

The system is developed in cooperation with Fleetonomy.ai, Rait88, MIL Sistemika and other partners.

“Integrating different unmanned systems and traditional manned assets through a command-and-control system enables the efficient deployment of autonomous vehicles on the battlefield,” explained Kuldar Väärsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics. “Integrated autonomous ground systems enable a significant increase of firepower and capabilities using fewer human resources and at the same time increasing the safety of our troops, which has always been the goal of Milrem Robotics.”

The C2’s autonomy engine is capable of remotely navigating and controlling the position and motion vectors of the UxV’s and/or other integrated RAS components.

It supports user-defined autonomous missions and behaviour sets, delivers an ALFUS Contextual Autonomy Capability level of 4+ for behaviours related to autonomous navigation such as route planning, object avoidance and geo-mapping. It also provides many autonomous functions like flight control, target detection and automatic optimized routing.

The autonomy engine autonomously creates routes against pre-determined mission sets such as search, intercept, shadow etc, considering the selected vehicles’ mobility & intelligence characteristics.
