25 May 04. Thales and the Ecole Navale, the French naval academy, have decided to strengthen their cooperation by signing a partnership. This partnership will enable Thales to increase its understanding of the French Navy’s operations and working environment. It will also establish strong links, at a very early stage, with trainee officers set to command the next generation of ships and shape future naval requirements.
26 May 04. Lockheed Martin began manufacturing the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile today at its Pike County Operations facility in Troy, AL. The facility will perform final integration, assembly and testing of the THAAD missile, which is an integral part of the THAAD weapon system and the United States’ network of layered defenses against ballistic missile attack.

Statement by the Secretary General on the Resignation of SRSG Holkeri On behalf of the Alliance, I would like to thank Harri Holkeri for his efforts as Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Kosovo. During his tenure, he demonstrated his strong dedication to peace, stability and ethnic reconciliation in Kosovo. He played an instrumental role in launching the “Standards for Kosovo” process, and the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade began with his encouragement and guidance. NATO thanks him for his service to the international community, and wishes him well in his future endeavours.

25 May 04. Lockheed Martin has named Stanton D. Sloane executive vice president of Integrated Systems & Solutions (IS&S), effective June 1, 2004, replacing Albert E. Smith who has announced plans to retire Feb. 1, 2005. Sloane has been deputy of IS&S, since 2003.
24 May 04. Stewart & Stevenson said that, after many years of service to the Company as an officer and director, Donald E. Stevenson has announced that he will not stand for reelection as a director at the upcoming Annual Meeting.
18 May 04. Messier-Dowty has promoted Simon Luxmoore to senior vice president, reporting directly to Chairman and CEO Louis Le Portz. Simon Luxmoore succeeds Martyn Hurst, who is retiring. Upon completion of an Executive MBA, Simon Luxmoore joined the Dowty Group Plc in 1989, after successive senior marketing and sales positions within the Lawson Mardon Group, an international group of companies headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
