24 Mar 04. The Board of BAE Systems plc has agreed that Dick Olver will be appointed a non-executive Director of the Company on 17 May 2004 and will succeed Sir Richard Evans as Chairman on 1 July 2004. Sir Richard Evans will retire from the Board on 1 July 2004. Dick Olver is currently Deputy Group Chief Executive of BP, the company he joined in 1973 and in which he has held a series of senior positions including Group Managing Director, Chairman BP America Advisory Board, and CEO BP Exploration. Dick Olver is also Senior Independent Director of Reuters Group plc.
25 Mar 04. Former UK Chief of Defence Staff General Lord Guthrie has joined the Board of Directors of training solutions company, Advanced Interactive Systems. General the Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank will advise AIS on a range of security issues affecting the armed forces, including the development of specialist training solutions for frontline military personnel. He will also provide input on training and security issues for other sectors, including aviation, law enforcement, government and emergency response teams.
Mar 04. SaabTech notified the Regional Employment Board of its plans to
give notice to 70 people at its operations in Järfälla, Kista and
Uppsala. Most of those affected are development engineers but some administrative staff are also included.
19 Mar 04. The new offices of AgustaWestland International Limited were officially opened at Farnborough today by Shadow Defence Minister and Farnborough MP Gerald Howarth. AgustaWestland International Limited (AWIL), previously trading as EH Industries, was formed to manage the largest international helicopter development and production programme in the world, resulting in the all new 15-ton EH101multi-role helicopter.
18 Mar 04. Paul Everington, an expert in information systems has joined Cornwell Management Consultants Plc. Paul’s career spans over 30 years in consulting and the Information Systems industry. He has over twenty years experience of systems, specialising in integrated systems for a wide range of clients, both Government and commercial. His experience embraces information systems strategy, requirement review, technical architecture design, performance and security in mainframe, distributed and office systems, document management and workflow and supplier selection. This work has been largely in Defence and Government environment.
