22 Mar 12. GA Telesis, LLC announced that in conjunction with its current operations that currently provide maintenance services for defense and government customers, it has expanded its service offerings to include component support solutions for defense and government applications. 26 Mar 12. General Dynamics Information Technology has been awarded a Design Engineering Support Program (DESP) III contract by Ogden Air Logistics Center (OO-ALC), Hill Air Force Base, Utah. The five-year multiple-award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract has a potential value of $1.9bn to all 26 awardees. Through this contract, General Dynamics will provide engineering and high-level technical support services for all Air Force Materiel Command weapons systems, components and support equipment, as well as implement integrated engineering systems to reduce technology lifecycle costs. General Dynamics will also oversee the operational life, performance, safety and environmental sustainability of engineering systems and provide education and training support for the systems.

16 Mar 12. USFJ chief confirms plans to station Ospreys at Futenma. Lieutenant General Burton Field, commander of US Forces Japan(USFJ) and the 5th Air Force, has confirmed plans to station the MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) transport aircraft at the controversial US Marine Corps (USMC) air station at Futenma in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, during this year as part of an ongoing replacement of the USMC’s ageing CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter fleet. “The aircraft will replace the CH-46 stationed in Okinawa,” Gen Field told reporters at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan on 15 March. 29 Mar 12. Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Dr Mike Kelly, officially opened the purpose-built Australian Defence Force Military Law Centre at historic Victoria Barracks, Paddington Sydney NSW. The Military Law Centre was established by the Department of Defence in 2001 to provide professional in-service training for Australian Defence Force legal officers, and forms the ADF component of the Asia-Pacific Military Law Centre (APCML). The APCML is a cooperative partnership between the Military Law Centre and the University of Melbourne Law School that offers military law courses to ADF and regional military officers. Dr Kelly said the Government committed in 2008 to build a centre to house both the ADF Military Law Centre and the Asia-Pacific Centre for Military Law (military node). The centres will continue to educate and train future Australian Defence Force legal officers and officers from the Asia-Pacific region in facets of military and international law with a special focus on the Rule of Law
