13 Feb 12. TenCate Advanced Armour has opened its sales office in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. Mr Jacob Abelsen who has previously been the regional agent of TenCate Advanced Armour has been appointed director of this new entity in Singapore. TenCate Advanced Armour APAC will start out as a sales office, but the plan is that it will be the regional hub for a number of local production establishments in countries along the APAC region. An important part of the worldwide growth strategy is that TenCate will offer local content to country specific programs. Current production for the region will primarily come out of Europe but can also be serviced from TenCate Advanced Armour in India. In the first quarter of 2012 a sales manager and a technical sales manager will join the existing team in Singapore. A group of experienced TenCate Advanced Armour EMEA employees have also been allocated to support the APAC region.
11 Feb 12. Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services-North America announces the consolidation and expansion of its Langley, British Columbia, Canada structures and avionics facilities; which is scheduled to open for business in December, 2012. Vector-Langley has provided its highly specialized airframe and avionics services up to and including engineering, Supplemental Type Certificate development and glass cockpit system development and integrations to an international customer base consisting of both defense and commercial operators for more than 20 years.
12 Feb 12. Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services-North America (Vector) announces the expansion of its Andalusia, Alabama facilities; with the Grand Opening scheduled for March, 2012. Rick Pataky, vice-president of operations at the Andalusia operation explains that the current 38,000 square-foot repair and overhaul facility; opened on December 3rd, 2008 has been challenged with capacity issues in recent years due to Vector’s continued growth; and that the time is right for an expansion to accommodate future market share growth. In particular, Pataky identifies the necessity to expand Vector’s TH-57 and TH-67 overhaul lines in support of ongoing US Navy and US Army programs, as well as expansion of the company’s UH-1 Upgrade Program. Vector has successfully operated the Andalusia, Alabama operation since 2004 where it has offered best-in-class airframe, component, avionics and engineering support to a mix of defense and commercial operators throughout North America. The company has continued to experience steady business growth via a continually expanding customer base consisting of both of defense and commercial operators.
13 Feb 12. Sikorsky plans to establish an office in Malaysia, taking the first step toward expanding its industry presence in Southeast Asia.
“Malaysia is centrally located in ASEAN (Association of SouthEast Asia Nations), with one of the strongest aerospace markets in region. Opening an office in Malaysia allows Sikorsky to be best located to support all of its Southeast Asia customers, and we look forward to the new opportunities to grow our relationships in the region,” said Linda Scott, General Manager for the Southeast Asia office. 14 Feb 12. Rockwell Collins is expanding its presence and commitment to Canadian aerospace and defence through their facilities in Ottawa and Montreal. The newly renovated and expanded office space in Ottawa was unveiled at a ribbon cutting ceremony for customers, dignitaries and employees. Located at 30 Edgewater Street, the Ottawa facility specializes in the design and development of wireless, ad-hoc networking technologies, including battlefield modeling and simulation of tactical networks.
