04 Mar 11. Donaldson Company, Inc. announced tthat construction will begin on another manufacturing facility in Aguascalientes, Mexico. This new 140,000 square foot facility will manufacture air filters for the Company’s growing markets in the Americas. Donaldson’s existing plant in Aguascalientes, which currently manufactures both air and liquid filters, will specialize in liquid filters upon the completion of this new air filter plant. 03 Mar 11. The Atlas Elektronik Group, a worldwide acting company for maritime defense electronics, has founded a subsidiary in North America. Atlas North America (Atlas NA) has been set up to establish a strong and reliable partnership with the US Navy and US authorities. As potential main contractor Atlas NA will provide Atlas products and solutions for current or future US users. This is an important step within the globalization strategy of the company, which is based with its headquarters in Germany. For decades now, Atlas has been offering a broad range of sonars and sensors, command and control systems for submarines and surface combatants, heavyweight torpedoes and corresponding countermeasures, mine warfare systems, unmanned underwater vehicles, as well as coastal surveillance systems. 03 Mar 11. Jean Botti, Chief Technical Officer of EADS, and Viktor Vekselberg, Executive President of the Skolkovo Foundation, have signed an MoU on research collaboration. The agreement underlines the intention of EADS to participate in the Russia-based Skolkovo Innovation Centre, a high technology business hub to be built in the Moscow region. The MoU was signed on Wednesday in Paris. According to the MoU, EADS will establish a centre that will conduct research in the areas of: aerospace technology, including telecommunications and navigation; efficient energy technologies; information technology. The Centre will also collaborate with the Skolkovo Institute of Technology and other Russian scientific institutions in order to identify technologies and competences of mutual interest.
07 Mar 11. Raytheon Company selected Downey, Calif., as the location for its new Public Safety Regional Technology Center. The company is planning to open the facility in the next three months. Occupying 27,000 square feet and employing up to 150 people, the new center will serve as the focus of Raytheon’s civil communications business in the western United States and provide test and research facilities, training, and

03 Mar 11. New York City has opened a new consolidated data center that will combine information from more than 40 government agencies and is expected to save the city $100m over the next five years. Carole Post opened the 18,000 square-foot facility in downtown Brooklyn this week. New York will initially consolidate data from 19 agencies over the next year and move up to 40 within the next five years.
