08 Feb 11. Cassidian has set up an engineering center in Bangalore to develop products for Indian customers. The center would be staffed largely by Indian engineers, the company said, adding that it would raise the number of employees at the facility to 200 by the end of 2012 from 60 at present. 03 Feb 11. Florida Governor Rick Scott joined Chromalloy officials and employees today as the company broke ground on a new $5m ceramic core production facility in Tampa, Fla. The new 40,000 square foot production facility will be built adjacent to the company’s newly operational $30m industrial investment foundry.
“This is an important day for Chromalloy, Tampa Bay and the State of Florida,” said Armand F. Lauzon, Jr., President. “We are pleased to be a vital member of the community with a new world-class foundry — and now a new companion core production facility that will help us better serve our customers worldwide.”
The ceramic core facility will be built in 2011 and online by the first quarter of 2012. The company’s new 150,000 square foot investment casting foundry in Tampa Chromalloy Castings – was unveiled in December 2010 and is fully online. (Source: Yahoo!/PRNewswire)

Saab AB plans to open a research and development centre in India “soon,” as it looks to boost its presence in one of the fastest growing aircraft markets, its chief executive said on Tuesday. The Swedish firm plans to add 300 engineers over five years, Hakan Buskhe told a media briefing. High spending on arms and a rapid increase in civil transport in Asia’s third-largest economy has lured global players like Saab, Boeing and Airbus to India.
09 Feb 11. Samtel Display Systems Ltd. and Thales Avionics SA are proud to announce the official incorporation of their new Joint Venture company, Samtel Thales Avionics Ltd. The JV company Samtel Thales Avionics Ltd, officially incorporated as of December 28,
2010, is intended to locally develop, customize, manufacture, sell and maintain indigenous Helmet-Mounted Sight and Display Systems and modern Avionics Systems for the Indian and export defence markets. The core objective of the JV company is to design systems for the Indian Forces’ helicopters and fighters. However, the activity will quickly expand to include other products. Based in Delhi, it will provide the foundation for all future Thales aerospace development in India. The resulting Indian avionics systems will serve customer requirements as part of overall Thales and Samtel solutions. These systems will also be eligible to help Thales meet offset obligations for its different programmes with the Indian Defence Ministry. The JV company will ensure local added value support and integrated maintenance services for the systems it produces for the Indian market.
08 Feb 11. The opening of a new office in the capital here signals Rockwell Collins’ drive to boost defense and civil business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said Clay Jones, chairman, president and chief executive of the U.S. electronics equipment maker.
