07 Nov 7, 2010. PTI Chairman, Tata Sons Ratan Tata today said the group has decided to centralise its aerospace and defence business in Hyderabad.
“The Tata Group has decided that all its aerospace and defence which is really the new area of Tata Group will in fact be centered in Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. This is going to enthuse the private sector in defence and strategic areas— one of the larger new areas of endeavour of Tata Group,” Tata said in a function held to unveil the first Sikorsky S-92 helicopter cabin made in a facility here set by Tata Advance Systems and Sikorsky Aircraft Corp of USA. Tata-Sikorsky was allotted 50 acre land in the country’s first aerospace SEZ to be set up at APIIC Aerospace and Precision Engineering SEZ and an estimated investment of Rs1,000 crore is expected to be pumped in to the JV. Similarly, a joint venture between Tata Group and AgustaWestland of Italy is said to be considering setting up a helicopter manufacturing unit at GMR Group’s aviation special economic zone (SEZ) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. According to sources the proposal to invest in the SEZ is awaiting the nod by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board. (Source: Google)

08 Nov 10. In line with Teledyne TSS’ planned expansion, a new test facility has been implemented at their Head Quarters at Croxley Heath in the UK for target scaling activities for the TSS detection range of products. To improve the accuracy of the Teledyne TSS’ range of detection products, Teledyne TSS customers can now benefit from a new facility that enables their TSS 440 pipe and cable trackers to be precisely calibrated for specific targets. Samples of pipe or cable provided by the customer can now be analysed in the new facility so that an error matrix can be created for the user’s own TSS 440. This makes it possible for burial depths of a particular pipe or cable to be measured to an accuracy of five centimetres or five per cent of range so that compliance with installation contracts can be verified. The new Teledyne TSS facility is conveniently located beside the company’s factory in Watford, UK. It is believed to be unique in the world as it creates laboratory standard conditions in which tests may be conducted on samples up to 5-metres long and weighing up to 2-tonnes.
