Raytheon Company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Precision Electronics Limited to forge strategic alignments that jointly develop and provide superior communications technology for India’s military forces. The MOU represents another step toward establishing a strong collaborative working relationship, encouraging joint pursuit of emerging business opportunities, and providing for in-country production, offset and long-term support. This agreement will pave the way for more exchanges of communications technology and business know-how between India and Raytheon.

08 Feb 08. Rheinmetall intends to take a stake in South Africa’s Denel Munitions
Germany’s Rheinmetall Group today (8 February) signed an agreement with Denel
(Pty) Ltd, indicating its intention to take a majority equity stake in Denel Munitions. The agreement was signed in Pretoria by Mr Armin Papperger, President Rheinmetall Waffe Munition and Denel’s Group Executive, Ms Lana Kinley.
The Düsseldorf-based Rheinmetall Group is currently negotiating with the Denel
Group for an interest in Denel Munitions, a business division of Denel located in the Western Cape and North West province. As part of continuing moves to internationalize its defence technology operations, Rheinmetall plans to take a 51% stake in the South African munitions entity. The agreement signed today is subject to approval from the competition authorities and still tied to various suspensive conditions that need be resolved before the transaction is finally concluded. In embarking on this planned buyout, Rheinmetall wishes to expand its market presence and highlight its role as a leading supplier of systems and equipment for ground forces.

11 Feb 08. General Dynamics Canada today announced that Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, an industry leader in equipment and integration expertise, has joined the CSI Halifax Team that is responding to the Canadian Navy’s $1.1b Halifax Class Modernization (HCM) – Combat Systems Integration (CSI) program. Acting as the prime contractor, General Dynamics Canada is leading a team that also includes defence industry suppliers Thales Netherlands, Thales Canada and General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. The strategic addition of Raytheon further strengthens the CSI Halifax Team as Raytheon brings with it proven combat systems integration experience with shipyards worldwide. (Source: ASD Network)

12 Feb 08. BAE Systems and Mahindra Defence are in discussion to jointly develop an Indian mine protected vehicle based on BAE Systems’ highly successful RG-31 mine protected vehicle. Lockheed Martin UK has introduced more than 126 local companies to potential future opportunities in the Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFV) sector at an event co-sponsored with trade body Northern Defence Industries.
