10 Jun 11. DEE forms strategic alliance with EPS. Coventry-based Development Engineering & Enterprise Limited (DEE-Ltd) has established a strategic alliance with Enhanced Protection Systems Limited (EPS), which is located in Moira, Derbyshire. DEE has been assisting EPS on a number of vehicle design programmes for some time. DEE, a privately-owned British company, was founded in 2005 by Neil McAdam and made its military vehicles debut with its WeeViL (Wheeled Vehicle Light) later the same year. It also subsequently revealed its radical new concept ANT programme (All-TerraiN Transporter). It was one of three companies which was down-selected for the UK Mod’s Light Logistics Support Vehicle competition, which led to the current in-service Springer platform. McAdam is an extreme mobility vehicle engineering specialist and has been closely involved with other platform programmes in the past. Within the new strategic alliance, DEE will bring its chassis engineering, mobility and vehicle performance experience together with EPS’s manufacturing and build capability. DEE’s non-defence activities, which include concept and hybrid development for mainstream automotive OEMs and a range of Toyota-derived high performance engines and gearboxes for the Kit-Car and low volume markets will continue at DEE’s Coventry facility.

21 Jun 11. Airbus Military and Israel Aerospace Industries join forces on C295 AEW&C Programme. Airbus Military and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) are combining forces to jointly develop and market a new version of the Airbus Military C295 platform fitted with an Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system produced by ELTA Systems, a wholly owned IAI subsidiary. The primary sensor of the AEW&C will be the IAI/ELTA 4th Generation Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar with integrated IFF. An MOU to this effect was signed at the Le Bourget Airshow by IAI Corp. VP and ELTA President, Mr. Nissim Hadas, and Airbus Military CEO Mr. Domingo Ureña. With this agreement, Airbus Military will expand its mission capability to the Airborne Early Warning & Command sector, while ELTA will be expanding its AEW&C fleet to include a turboprop platform. The C295 AEW&C has been designed to provide high quality 360. Surveillance, creating in real-time an integrated Air and Maritime Situation Picture and Electronic Order of Battle. The AEW&C Situation Picture is shared with friendly forces via Network Centric data links.

22 Jun 11. PZL-Swidnik and INAER Sign MoU for W-3A Sokó Helicopters. AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce that PZL-Swidnik has signed a MoU with INAER of Spain to expand both companies’ businesses in the fire fighting market over the next ten years, in particular in Spain, Portugal, Italy and France. The MoU is focused on the specialised W-3A Sokó medium twin helicopter and support services and it is intended to meet INAER’s fleet modernization and expansion plan requirements for fire fighting operations.

19 Jun 11. PEI-Genesis, Inc., the world’s fastest assembler of precision connectors and power supplies, announced today that they have signed a global distribution agreement with Deutsch Aerospace, a leading manufacturer of electrical connectors for the Industrial Vehicle, Mil Aero, Transportation and Oil & Gas markets, to assemble their Mil and Civil Aero connector products, including EN Jet engine connectors for commercial aircraft. The partnership strengthens PEI-Genesis’ presence in the commercial aerospace industry while providing Deutsch with a fast, flexible way to meet their customers’ needs worldwide.
