13 Sep 10. e2v, the technology solutions provider and manufacturer of Stellar satellite uplink amplifiers and ST Electronics, a leading provider of solutions, have today announced the signing of a deal that gives e2v the exclusive reseller rights in the Satellite News Gathering market in Europe for a wide range of miniature BUCs via e2v’s network of regional sales offices. This year’s IBC will see the introduction of this new range of BUCs into e2v’s expanding Stellar range of portable satellite uplink amplifiers. The new Stellar TS range will be available in C and Ku band frequencies and will provide up to 200W of output power. Very small in size and light-weight, they are designed to be mounted on the feed arm of the satellite antenna, which is ideal for mobile and flyaway applications. The new range is highly energy efficient.
Dick Heinrich, e2v’s commercial and industrial business unit general manager comments: “this is a very exciting time for us, adding the ST Electronics BUCs to the Stellar range will enable us to offer a one stop shop to our customers, from low power solid state BUCs right the way through to very high power TWTA-based amplifiers, all supported through our existing support and service organisation.”

15 Sep 10. Sagem Defense Securite, Safran group and Elbit Systems Ltd. announced the signature of an MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) regarding the intended establishment, by early 2011, of an equally owned joint venture for the tactical unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) market for France and designated international markets, in which existing initiatives will continue through the JV. The intended joint venture will be a French corporation, located in Eragny and Montluçon (France). It will be formed by the equal contributions of assets from the two parent companies. The new company’s portfolio will comprise newly developed products, as well as current and derivative products, from Sagem and Elbit Systems. The new company will be able to offer a wide range of products for the tactical UAS market.

Rockwell Collins has teamed with ND SatCom to integrate the SkyWAN 7000 series modem into the SWE-DISH CommuniCase(r) Technology (CCT) platform, providing a new network processor for Rockwell Collins’ CCT-based products. As the newest modem in the CCT family, SkyWAN brings one of the most advanced and powerful multi-frequency Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) network platforms on the market and supports voice, data and video with data rates up to 10Mbps. With its unique power and bandwidth efficiency, SkyWAN supports small and mobile terminals such as the SWE-DISH CCT120 Suitcase(r). Thanks to their modular concepts, CCT-based products provide the end-user with unique benefits, including the ability to change bands, antenna size or modems in the field within minutes. CCT-based products are cost-effective and flexible solutions for compact, quick-to-air, portable satellite communication (SATCOM).
