03 Aug 10. Force Protection and SNC-Lavalin Defense Contractors of Canada have partnered to bid for the Canadian Army’s tactical armoured patrol vehicle (TAPV) programme. SNC senior vice-president Peter Langlais said Force Protection brought its expertise in design and supportability using the highly successful Cougar vehicles as the platform for the TAPV solution. Currently, the Canadian Forces are using Cougar vehicles for safe transportation of military personnel. The new Cougar TAPV will be specifically designed according to the military requirements in Canada and will follow on from other Cougar vehicles that are currently being used as transport vehicles by Canadian forces. Production and maintenance work will be carried out by Force Protection and SNC in cooperation with other defence partners in Canada. The Canadian Government recently selected Force Protection Industries to compete for the TAPV programme. The successful bidder will be awarded a contract to deliver up to 600 vehicles with associated support services in 2011. (Source: armytechnology.com)
