14 Jun 10. A|D|S and KDIA Memorandum of Understanding signed to boost bilateral trade in defence. A|D|S, the UK’s AeroSpace, Defence and Security trade organisation signed a cooperative Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korea Defense Industry Association (KDIA). The MoU was signed at the Eurosatory exhibition in Paris. With the developing globalisation of industry, the agreement will foster cooperation between the members of the two organisations as well as achieve economies of effort on joint initiatives for the two trade organisations. The MoU signed today seeks to achieve these goals on behalf of the industries of both nations to boost both trade in this strategic sector and the economies of both countries. Following recent agreements with similar associations in the US, Canada and the Middle East this MoU further strengthens the international links of A|D|S and the potential trade parnters for A|D|S members, particularly small and medium sized enterprises who are at the heart of the UK defence industry

Lockheed Martin and EXPAL announced the signing of an MOU, intended to facilitate exclusive discussions for exploring the formation of a unión temporal de empresa (UTE), or consortium, as the companies pursue the Spanish 8×8 VBR program. This MOU expands upon the parties’ current relationship, announced in May 2010, which defined EXPAL as having responsibility for the logistics and maintenance support of the AMV offering. Today’s signing demonstrates Lockheed Martin’s commitment to relationships with Spanish companies.
“We are excited about the strong team EXPAL and Lockheed Martin are building for this program,” said Scott Greene, vice president of Vehicle Systems at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. “This agreement provides an opportunity to leverage the programme management and system integration skills of Lockheed Martin and the logistics capabilities of EXPAL to provide high levels of system readiness for Spanish forces.”
“This agreement provides the foundation for EXPAL to participate in the leadership of the AMV project for the Spanish Ministry of Defense’s future 8×8 program,” said Manuel Garcia Sañudo, general manager of EXPAL. “Assuring national industry involvement at the highest levels of the program, this offer is based on a strong industrial platform and technology transfer process and will provide the Spanish Ministry of Defense with the best solution to protect its troops.”

Lockheed Martin and Alaska Aerospace Corporation announced today that they are partnering to pursue the U.S. Missile Defense Agency’s Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract. Together, the corporations will apply their proven experience to ensure the reliability and readiness of the GMD element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System, which defends our nation, deployed military forces, friends and allies against a limited attack by intermediate- and long-range ballistic missiles. The GMD Development and Sustainment Contract will entail development, manufacturing, test, training, operations and sustainment support.
