SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica company, and US Headquartered Owlstone Nanotech Inc. have formed a strategic agreement covering the exclusive use by SELEX Galileo of Owlstone’s FAIMS (Field Asymmetric Ion Mobility Spectroscopy) sensor for chemical sensing in the military market. This agreement follows a successful three year technology and product development collaboration which combined Owlstone’s FAIMS sensor and SELEX Galileo’s chemical detection and identification algorithms, to create the Nexsense C chemical detection system. Nexsense C has demonstrated the capability to address the most stringent requirements for the detection and identification of chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals. The multi year agreement covers the exclusive use of the Owlstone FAIMS sensor in the Global military market by SELEX Galileo and will result in a revolutionary ability to protect the war fighter from chemical threats. Additionally, the two companies are furthering their teaming efforts in product and business development while continuing to develop their joint product strategies to address the global security markets.
