INDUSTRY TEAMINGS

December 3, 2009 by

01 Dec 09. ITT Corporation, teamed with Boeing Aircraft Company, has submitted its proposal for the Technology Maturation Phase of the U.S. Navy’s Next Generation Jammer Competition,. In this phase, contractors will refine their system concepts and equipment. In the following phase, a downselect planned for 2011, the Navy is expected to award two Technology Demonstration contracts to incorporate the best proposed technologies.( The Next Generation Jammer program will provide the Navy’s EA-18 Growler aircraft with a significant new electronic attack capability that now allows the U.S. Navy to maintain spectrum dominance – control of all electronic signals in a battle area – in both conventional and irregular warfare for many years. The ITT/Boeing team has already completed a comprehensive six-month study of the Next Generation Jammer for the Naval Air Systems Command, PMA-234. During this rigorous study, the team investigated a number of solutions for the Next Generation Jammer system, then defined a best technical approach. The study included mission analysis, identification of needed technology developments, and established initial project planning documentation. The Next Generation Jammer is also expected to have portability to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and various UAV platforms.
