01 Dec 09. ITT Corporation, teamed with Boeing Aircraft Company, has submitted its proposal for the Technology Maturation Phase of the U.S. Navy’s Next Generation Jammer Competition,. In this phase, contractors will refine their system concepts and equipment. In the following phase, a downselect planned for 2011, the Navy is expected to award two Technology Demonstration contracts to incorporate the best proposed technologies.( The Next Generation Jammer program will provide the Navy’s EA-18 Growler aircraft with a significant new electronic attack capability that now allows the U.S. Navy to maintain spectrum dominance – control of all electronic signals in a battle area – in both conventional and irregular warfare for many years. The ITT/Boeing team has already completed a comprehensive six-month study of the Next Generation Jammer for the Naval Air Systems Command, PMA-234. During this rigorous study, the team investigated a number of solutions for the Next Generation Jammer system, then defined a best technical approach. The study included mission analysis, identification of needed technology developments, and established initial project planning documentation. The Next Generation Jammer is also expected to have portability to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and various UAV platforms.

Thales has deepened links with Russian industry with the signature of a memorandum of partnership and cooperation with the Rostechnologies state corporation, the French defense systems company said Nov. 27. “The memorandum establishes principles of cooperation between the French and Russian partners, with a particular focus on exchanges and joint use of advanced technologies for both civil and military applications,” the company said in a statement. Thales Chairman and CEO Luc Vigneron signed the document, which has binding
force and is closer to an agreement than a memorandum of understanding, a company spokeswoman said. General Director Sergey Chemezov signed for Rostechnologies, in the presence of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and French Prime Minister François Fillon. The two prime ministers were meeting in a summit conference.Rostechnologies is involved in the development, manufacture and export of high-technology goods and raises investments in industry.
