23 Feb 09. Tawazun Holding, a company established within the Offset Group , today signed an MoU with Northrop Grumman Corporation through the Electronic Systems sector to explore the establishment of a collaborative business alliance on various defence programmes and requirements. The MoU was signed by H.E. Saif Mohamed Al Hajeri, chief executive officer of
Tawazun Holding, and John C. Johnson, sector vice president & general manager of Northrop Grumman’s Aerospace Systems Division. Under the MoU, Tawazun Holding and Northrop Grumman will explore the potential feasibility of establishing a collaborative business alliance across a variety of defence related activities with mutual long term interest to both companies.

24 Feb 09. C4 Advanced Solutions (C4AS) a wholly owned subsidiary of the Emirates Advanced Investments group and EADS Defence & Security (DS) create a Joint Venture company in Abu Dhabi to develop and market High Tech solutions in the field of Defence and Security applications.
This JV Company will open a long term relationship between EADS DS and the EAI group. The Joint Venture is dedicated to bringing advanced solutions to its customers. Those solutions will be jointly developed by EADS DS and C4AS through the new JV Company in close cooperation with customers and end users, thus maximising operational value. This partnership is also a clear cornerstone of EADS DS and EAI strategy to address efficiently the key importance of transfer of technology to the UAE, as a success factor for the development and mastering of strategic and nationally sensitive defence and security systems. C4 Advanced Solutions is a UAE defence contractor specializing in defence and homeland security, communications and IT solutions for the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces. Its industry knowledge, technical expertise and strategic partner’s relationships provide a compelling combination for its customers.

23 Feb 09. BAE Systems announced a teaming arrangement with Kongsberg Devotek A/S of Norway to develop a new system of gears and transmissions for the Spitterskyddad Enhets Platform (SEP) 8×8 armored vehicle. SEP is a family of wheeled and tracked vehicles providing superior survivability and a unique level of flexibility to meet the needs of current and future forces around the globe. SEP is being displayed during the IDEX exhibition in Abu Dhabi (22-26 February 2009). “Selecting Kongsberg Devotek A/S is a result of a long search for good partners for the SEP program to benefit our customers”, says Hans Haggberg, purchasing director at BAE Systems Hagglunds. “We have a long and successful history working with the Norwegian industrial base and this partnership builds a strong base for continued success allowing us to leverage our people, products and technology worldwide to fulfill our customer needs.”

23 Feb 09. Rolls-Royce and PZL-Swidnik Aircraft have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to discuss future applications of the new RR500 engine family. The RR500 turboshaft was launched today at Heli Expo in Anaheim, California. Rolls-Royce and PZL-Swidnik will work together to determine how the new RR500 engine family can be applied to the company’s existing and future helicopter models. PZL-Swidnik currently produces the Model 250-powered SW-4 light, single-engine, multi-purpose helicopter.

25 Feb 09. Quickstep signs teaming agreement with EDAG Australia. Teaming agreement signed with EDAG Australia Pty Ltd to jointly identify and target integrated design and manufacturing contracts primarily in the aerospace and defence industries; as unveiled on February 23, 2009. EDAG is a recognised design engineering company with over 5,500 engineers globally and specialty expertise in aerospace, defence and automotive product development. Quickstep will be the first composite manufacturer to partner with EDAG. (Source: Google)
