Dec 10. As at previous IDEX events a Live Mobility Demonstration area is being built and once again it will be used as part of the Opening Ceremony. This will be a unique ceremony for many reasons, but especially as the occasion will be graced by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed AI Nahyan, President of the UAE & Ruler of Abu Dhabi, as well as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed AI Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. During the exhibition open days (Monday 21 to Thursday 24 February) the mobility track will be used to further demonstrate the capabilities of your vehicle during live sessions that will last 30 – 40 minutes as at previous IDEX events. We are in the planning phase of production for the Opening Ceremony at present and details are currently being finalised. However, the following are details that could assist you in assessing your organisation’s decision to participate in the Ceremony:
* The live mobility demonstration is part of the official Opening Ceremony and the demonstration segment is approximately 10 minutes in length.
* The mobility demonstration track will be purpose built, directly in front of the ADNEC Grandstands – where the Royal Box will be located along with seating for over 2,500 invited guests.
* The performing vehicles will be held in a secure area approximately 300m from the demonstration track, away from delegates and the public.
* The mobility demonstration area will feature various obstacles including trenches, ramps and water troughs.
* The planned date for equipments, crafts and vehicles to arrive to the holding area is the 30th January 2011, while the planned dates for the rehearsals will be from the 6th – 19th February 2011.
AMPHIBIOUS DEMONSTRATION AT NAVDEX
We are also inviting exhibitors to participate in the amphibious demonstration which is part of The Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX). The amphibious demonstration will take place alongside the ADNEC Marina directly opposite the exhibition centre. A beach has been built as part of the demonstration area to allow landing craft to display their capabilities. The Marina is linked directly into the exhibition centre with a pedestrian footbridge. Pontoon moorings will be provided for the craft when they are not engaged in the on-water demonstration. The plan is to have these craft moored alongside the visiting naval vessels.
