EADS Defence & Security (DS) has received a follow-on order from Lockheed Martin’s Maritime Systems & Sensors business, valued at approx. €30m to supply the U.S. Coast Guard with the new radar, bringing the number of TRS-3D radars employed in the Deepwater programme to five. The TRS-3D is deployed on the new National Security Cutters specially designed for homeland security missions in offshore and littoral zones. Three radars have been delivered on time, with two more deliveries planned for end of 2008 and summer 2009. The procurement of more radars is envisaged according to the progress of the ship building programme.
17 Aug 08. Austal announces the contract to build six 30 metre aluminium fast patrol craft for the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Rolls-Royce waterjets have been selected for six new fast patrol craft that will help the coastguard protect the islands of Trinidad and Tobago. Each 30 metre vessel will be fitted with two Kamewa size 56 waterjets providing ship speeds of up to 40 knots. Advanced electronic controls provide a high level of manoeuvrability from this propulsion system. (Source: Google)
