14 Dec 07. EADS to Add Emergency Services to Radio Network. The French Interior Ministry has awarded a contract for an undisclosed amount to the EADS Defense and Security division to extend the Antares radio communications network to the fire and emergency services, the company said in a Dec. 14 statement. Antares is based on the Acropole network developed for the national police force. Adding the fire services to the system is a step toward establishing a national shared transmission system, EADS said. When fully deployed, the system will have more than 220,000 users over 1,300 sites and 70,000 radio terminals. The network uses the tetrapol technology.
