02 Dec 09. EADS Defence & Security has been awarded a contract by Germany’s Federal Office for Information Management and Information
Technology of the Bundeswehr (IT-AmtBw) to set up a nationwide TETRAPOL radio network in Djibouti. This contract is an extension of the TETRAPOL radio network installed by EADS Defence & Security for the police in Djibouti City as part of the German government’s equipment support programme in 2008. The new contract will enable the police forces in Djibouti to carry out nationwide operations from late 2010 onwards. As when installing the network in Djibouti City, EADS Defence & Security as prime contractor will implement the project on location in close collaboration with the Bundeswehr’s German advisory group in Djibouti.
02 Dec 09. Raytheon Company sold a second Mobile Nuclear Radiation Detection System, or MNRDS, to Florida’s Department of Transportation. The MNRDS is a mobile radiation detection system mounted in a sports utility vehicle; it provides the ability to detect and identify nuclear radiation in mobile and stationary operations using advanced spectroscopic technology. It will expand the state’s capability to safeguard against nuclear threats on highways, bridges, overpasses, tunnels, ports of entry, and public venues such as major sporting events and other large gatherings that might be considered targets.
30 Nov 09. American Science and Engineering, Inc. (AS&E(R)) announced today the receipt of a multimillion dollar order from a Middle East customer for two Z Backscatter(TM) Van systems (ZBV(TM)). Configured for harsh environments, the ZBV systems will be utilized for counterterrorism applications including securing government facilities and mobile checkpoints. (Source: ASD Network)
