16 Nov 23. EUROSATORY 2024, the highly anticipated exhibition.
Six months ahead of its organisation (from 17 to 20 June 2024 at Paris Nord Villepinte), EUROSATORY, the global event for Defence and Security (D&S) is displaying evidence of its strong appeal to both French and international audiences. According to General Charles Beaudouin, EUROSATORY’s Exhibition Director, “Stand space sales are well ahead of previous editions, in terms of both surface area booked and the number of exhibitors.” In 2024, EUROSATORY promises to once again be the unmissable international event for the sector.
EUROSATORY 2024: FEATURING EXHIBITORS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD
As proof of the appeal of the show, more than 800 French and foreign exhibitors have already confirmed their attendance at the event, including names such as: Airbus, Arquus, Aselsan, BAE Systems, Beretta Defense Technologies, Czechoslovak Group, Daimler Truck, Elbit, General Dynamics European Land Systems, GM Defense, IAI, KNDS, Lockheed Martin, MBDA, Norinco, Northrop Grumman, Otokar, Rafael, Rheinmetall, Saab, Safran, ST Engineering, Teledyne Flir, Textron, Thales, Toshiba, and Turgis et Gaillard.
So far to date, the tradeshow has registered exhibitors from 45 countries, including 24 international pavilions. Several countries have increased their footprint at the show with a more extensive participation, such as Bulgaria, China, Czechia, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States. This positive trend confirms the esteem in which the industry holds the show.
EUROSATORY, THE FORWARD LOOKING EXHIBITION TO ADDRESS ALL TYPES OF CRISES
Throughout 20 editions, the show has supported the global transformations underway in the Defence and Security sector. Our decade is marked by an acceleration in history and the gradual establishment of a new world order. Consequently, against a backdrop of multiple, multifaceted international crises and inter-state conflicts, governments will need to strengthen their capabilities to cope with the expanding nature of the threats they face (an extension of the scope of threats to cyberspace, outer space and hybrid warfare, violence within society, humanitarian and environmental disasters resulting from health, climate, industrial or natural hazards).
EUROSATORY asserts more powerful than ever its mission of accompaniment and foresight towards businesses, governments, military leaders, homeland security, civilian protection and emergency rescue forces, and international organisations.
RESPONDING TO HUMANITARIAN AND ENVIRONMENTAL CRISES, MORE THAN EVER AT THE HEART OF THIS 2024 EDITION
The capability demonstrator of the global response to humanitarian and environmental crises HELPED (standing for “Humanitarian Emergency Logistic Project and Eco Development”), launched in 2022, will be developed on an international scale at the 2024 edition. This modular set of systems and services will present solutions to deal with the problems around response intervention on the occurrence of humanitarian and environmental disasters.
At the centre of a dedicated space in hall 5B, the spotlight will be focussed on industrial and government know-how in the field of responding to multiple and multifaceted crises that affect populations and their environment. The 2024 show will place the focus on reconstruction, and notably that of people (physical and mental reconstruction).
15 Nov 23. RFCA conference emphasises defence stability and societal support. The Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Associations’ (RFCA) annual conference on 8 November attracted a diverse audience from the RFCA networks. The annual connecting defence with society conference was opened by General Lord Houghton, GCB CBE DL. The event focused on addressing the challenges of an unstable global context and bolstering the UK’s Reserve forces, with emphasis on the role of societal engagement to achieve this.
General Lord Houghton highlighted the existing gap in the connection between government and society, affirming the RFCA as key communicators between the two. Lord Houghton continued, stressing the significance of volunteer forces as one of the few truly strategic components of national capability. He underscored the crucial role of the RFCA in bridging the gap between governmental initiatives and wider society, particularly in national defence.
The conference provided a platform for General Gwyn Jenkins CB OBE ADC, Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, to give an update on the UK’s defence strategy. He outlined the need for a robust Reserve force in today’s global landscape, and the significant contributions of cadet programmes in fostering personal development. Their role in the broader defence framework was also acknowledged.
Key insights were shared by Maj Gen Marc Overton and the Rt Hon Dr Andrew Murrison MP, who covered the integration of Reservists into the defence strategy, and the government’s support for defence people and their families.
Senior cadet leadership gave presentations by cadets on the substantial influence of their cadet-ship on their growth and aspirations, reinforcing the critical role of cadet programmes in youth development.
The remaining discussion and Lord de Mauley’s closing remarks reiterated the significance of continued societal support and participation in strengthening the UK’s defence posture. (Source: https://www.gov.uk/)
