11 Jul 17. Close Combat Symposium
25 – 27 July 2017
Event time: 10:00
Location:
Defence Academy of the United Kingdom Shrivenham
Overview
Please make a note in your diary that this year’s Close Combat Symposium, run by Symposia at Shrivenham with the support Army HQ Capability Combat and Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) Land Equipment and the Police, hosted at the Defence Academy of the UK, is to be held from 25th to 27th July 2017 in the Technology School Conference Hall at Shrivenham with a full range practice off site on the middle day.
Theme
The aim of the event is to examine future capability requirements for Ground Manoeuvre close combat forces, both mounted and dismounted, to identify current capability gaps and to examine current and future threats.
Format
This symposium aims to bring together representatives from the Military, Users, Procurement Agencies, R&D staff, the Police and Industry from around the world. Through presentations by Army Headquarters Head of Combat and his staff, Cranfield University and many Industry, and through discussion groups and plenary sessions, the purpose is to encourage cross-fertilization of ideas, the development of new perspectives and the challenging of current thinking. Unique networking opportunities during the all-inclusive lunches, the Symposium Dinner and barbeque on the ranges will be offered.
Range Day, Displays and Demonstrations
After a successful event in 2016 along with the support from ATDU, ITDU and SASC we will once again have the ability to conduct live firing of weapons on Wednesday 26th July at the Cranfield Ordnance Test and Evaluation Centre (COTEC), on the northern edge of Salisbury Plain. Companies already signed up to let you fire their weapons systems include GMK, Beechwood, Qioptiq, LEI , Viking Arms and Pepperball.
With thanks to Bapty & Co the range day will include a ‘Victoria Machine Gun day’ with a display of GATLING, GARDNER, VICKERS MAXIM and Super Pom Pom.
We offer companies, departments and establishments an opportunity to display their equipment (weapons, vehicles, sighting systems, ammunition, ancillaries, training aids etc) or advertise their capability throughout the event. In addition, those same organisations and suppliers have a unique chance to allow customers and visitors within the industry to experience their latest weapon designs, sighting systems and ancillaries all on the same military range.
Sponsorship
There are unique opportunities for sponsoring at various levels during this event: individual activities such as the event dinner, the barbeque on the range, or collectively for the whole event with generous concessions.
