In a move that supports IDEX’s status as one of the world’s leading tri-service defence events, show organisers ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company), have announced the launch of NAVDEX (Naval Defence Exhibition), a dedicated exhibition for naval defence, coastal and maritime security that will run alongside IDEX (International Defence Exhibition & Conference), 20 – 24 February 2011. NAVDEX will provide a showcase for the latest in naval technology incorporating warships, naval workboats and amphibious crafts, combat equipment, coastal security systems and sea-to-shore communication solutions. The event will feature quayside exhibits, exhibition stands within an air-conditioned marquee, on-water craft moored to temporary pontoons and daily amphibious and waterborne demonstrations featuring the latest boats and crafts. In addition, a number of International naval vessels, up to corvette size, are expected to be secured alongside NAVDEX, held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

17 Jun 10. Lockheed Martin Corp will halve its corporate presence at the
Farnborough Air Show outside London next month as part of stepped-up cost-consciousness on behalf of its clients, Chief Executive Robert Stevens said.
“We are not going to look at the world the same way going forward as we looked at the world in the past,” he told reporters Thursday at a company event to showcase big-ticket programs such as its F-35 fighter jet, new coastal combat ship and ballistic missile defenses.
The Farnborough show, to be held July 19 to 25 this year, alternates annually with a counterpart in Paris to become the world’s biggest arms bazaar. Stevens said he would skip along with “many of our corporate leaders” because he could not justify the expense and he wanted to set an example for the company.
