The National Shooting Centre and BATTLESPACE Publications, organisers of the Owning The Night Conference and Exhibition being held at The National Shooting Centre (NSC), Bisley, Surrey, UK from 10 – 11th November 2009 are delighted to announce an Open Day to be held at Bisley on Tuesday September 15th.
“This Open Day will give Exhibitors and potential Exhibitors the chance to see the full extent of the Bisley ranges and accommodation facilities. In addition, the Exhibition Management Team, will be on hand to discuss exhibitors’ requirements, particularly the ability to use their equipment under live firing conditions during the day and night. Bisley has the unique ability to provide firms with a complete service in terms of ranges and support including Section 5 facilities and full accommodation and catering.” Jeremy Staples, Managing Director of the NSC said.
Owning the Night is supported by Director Battlespace Manoeuvre, Major General Chris Wilson CBE. Representatives from Capability Ground Manoeuvre, the Individual Capability Group from DE&S and Director Infantry will be present. The event will also target visitors from all levels of UK MoD, Home Office and UK Police involved with firearms, night vision equipment and weapon sighting systems. The UKTI MINIM delegates from 17 countries have been given the option to visit Bisley on the second day.

The Owning The Night team has made some key appointments to enable the success of what is a first for a U.K. Exhibition. These include:
1. Owning The Night is supported by UKTI DSO EST. The Export Support Team is supporting Owning The Night by managing the live fire aspects of the Event and the safety concerns for the event for EST. This includes supporting Exhibitors in their firearms and systems requirements, the vital safety case and the key task of managing the shooting events during the day and night. All manufactures that require a live demonstration must submit their weapon, ammunition and equipment details 6 weeks before the event and what they want achieve. Companies will not be able to demonstrate live if they turn up on an ad hoc basis on the day. The ranges will be open from 1030 every day and close at the end of the Night Firing demonstrations at 1930. Each Exhibitor will be provided with their own shooting lane on the Stickledown Range which can take any calibre up to 7.62 and .50 cal blanks can also be fired. There are range facilities for rifles up to 7.62 and vehicle mounted 7.62 GPMGs. Manufacturers of gun mounts and other ancillary equipment can work with gun manufacturers to do joint demonstrations.
2. The Organisers have made changes and additions to the Management Committee. Jeremy Staples is appointed as Chairman of the Owning The Night Committee and Peter Hobson, Managing Director of Hobson Industries, an NRA Council Member, has been appointed onto the Management Committee to coordinate the Event. Brian Thomas, Director of Shooting for the NRA is working with UKTI to manage all the shooting events.
