Dec 08. “Athens International 2009” Defence, Security, Energy and Civil Aviation
exhibition and conference will take place in May 2009 at the Athens
International Airport – “Athens Metropolitan Expo”, under the auspices of
the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence and the Municipality of Athens.
The International Herald Tribune – Kathimerini English Edition and KROLL are
main supporters. The organizer of the exhibition is “EXPANSION”, an Athens-based company active in defence, energy and telecommunications issues in South-Eastern
Europe and Cyprus since 1990. Among its various activities, “EXPANSION”
publishes Defence & Diplomacy magazine (in Greek: Amyna & Diplomatia) –
www.amynanet.gr – and specializes in conducting risk assessment researches
and offering strategic consulting to Greek and foreign clients.
The layout of the new exhibition venue and the detailed program of the event
(conference, receptions, advertising opportunities etc.) will be available
later this month.

02 Dec 08. Fujitsu Launches New Armed Forces Logistics Essay Competition. Supported by ACDS (Logistic Operations) and the Commandant, Defence College of Logistics and Personnel Administration the Basingstoke based Defence and Security Division of Fujitsu Services has launched the first of three Annual Essay Competitions and Award Dinners under the title The Fujitsu Future of Logistics Challenge. The competition is open to commissioned officers of the UK’s Armed Forces. Essays are to be written on the topic ‘Advancing Logistics Thinking’ and may cover any area related to Defence Logistics and Supply or ‘Support’ Chain Management that the author considers could be improved. Entries will be judged by a panel, which will include senior officers from the three Armed Services and industry senior executives. The prize of £1000 for the best essay will be presented at a dinner to be held on Thursday 26th March 2009 at Halton House officers’ mess at RAF Halton. Mike Newman, Chief Executive at Fujitsu Defence and Security, added: “Fujitsu is an important partner of the MOD and has a wide range of contracts and innovations underway; we felt that it was appropriate that we should encourage original thinking in the important area of logistics and supply chain. We very much hope that the Fujitsu Future of Logistics Challenge will become an established part of the Defence Logistics Calendar.”
