EXHIBITIONS AND CONFERENCES

July 17, 2008 by

17 Jul 08. Royal Brunei Technical Services (RBTS), organisers of the 2009 Brunei Darussalam International Defence Exhibition and Conference (BRIDEX), the region’s premier defence and security event, has appointed the respected defence publishing company Jane’s Information Group, to co-organise the conference with RBTS.
Jane’s will also publish the official Show Guide and Show Daily magazines at BRIDEX, which will be held in Brunei from 11th-15th August 2008. The one-day conference will be held on 11th August 2009, the day before the official opening of the defence exhibition. The conference will bring together senior government ministers, defence force chiefs and leading defence industry experts, to exchange ideas and information on key issues facing defence forces across the region and further afield.
Lt Col (Rtd) Amir Hamzah bin Haji Hanafi, Chief Executive of the event organisers, Royal Brunei Technical Services, said: “BRIDEX will attract defence policy-makers and decision-makers from across the region and further afield, and this conference will provide the ideal platform for them to engage with their counterparts and with the major manufacturers and suppliers. Jane’s is one of the most respected sources of information and analysis on the global defence industry, and their participation will enhance the profile of the event”.
BRIDEX is expected to draw around 250 exhibitors, and will be held at a new purpose-built exhibition centre which will become the permanent home for the event. BRIDEX is focused exclusively on the most senior government and defence policymakers and will showcase innovative and value-enhancing technology solutions which address the security challenges facing defence forces.
The conference and exhibition will concentrate on four key areas of relevance for defence forces and security agencies in today’s fast-changing defence environment:
Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence and Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (C4ISTAR)
Homeland Security
Supporting Deployed Forces on Peacekeeping/Humanitarian Support Missions
Border Surveillance and Protection
BRIDEX 2009 is organised by Royal Brunei Technical Services, a strategic partner of the Ministry of Defence. Royal Brunei Technical Services helps to develop and sustain the operational capabilities of defence and security organisations in Brunei Darussalam.
