05 Jun 08. Defence Plan 2008-12: Publication. The Defence Secretary announced (5 Jun 08) publication of Defence Plan 2008-12, “which sets out in one place for the first time both our key targets for the coming year and the resources the Government are making available…”. The MoD’s “highest priority remains Operational success in Iraq and Afghanistan”.
Comment: The 57-page Plan contains some useful glimpses of where the MoD thinks it is going, but they are buried in too much management consultant’s incomprehensible jargon. The Plan repeats the Defence Budget until 2010/11 and is published, as Command 7385, for £13:90. (Source: DNA DEFENCE NEWS ANALYSIS, Issue 0823, 09 June 08)
