DRS WINS TACTICAL DATA AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS ORDERS

September 19, 2005 by

16 Sep 05. DRS Technologies, Inc. has received new orders to provide tactical data and information link and high-frequency (HF) data communications systems for U.S. and allied military applications. These products will be installed on various ships, submarines, aircraft and land-based platforms to provide real-time information exchange among commanders and ground, sea and air forces to support integrated battle space operations.

The contracts, with a combined value of approximately $12 million, were awarded
to DRS by the U.S. government, domestic and international prime contractors, and
commercial customers. For these orders, DRS will produce COTS-based AN/USQ-125(V) and AN/USQ-130 Link-11, -16 and -22 Data Terminal Sets,
Link-22 signal processor controllers, and other HF data communications equipment. The company also will demonstrate Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity using Link-16 Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) terminals. Work for these contracts will be accomplished by the company’s DRS Communications Company unit in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania.

“These new awards support the company’s leadership position in the supply of Link communications technology solutions and other secure tactical communications systems,” said Steven T. Schorer, president of DRS’s C4I Group. “Our systems deliver mission-critical information to and between weapon platforms and continue to play an increasingly important role in initiatives that are vital to military asset interoperability. As a leading supplier of Link technology solutions for more than 20 years, DRS is meeting the growing demand for this and other communications equipment at home and abroad, while supporting migration to Link-22 interoperability.”
