07 Jul 06. Building on its acquisition of walkabout Computers and its offering for the U.K.’s PUDT Requirement, DRS Technologies has released details of its new Hammerhead Range of Tablets as shown during Eurosatory.
The Hammerhead RT, DRS’s seventh generation rugged Tablet PC, is a value-class Windows-based mobile computer designed for customers who require protection from the daily rigors of field use and harsh environmental conditions. Featuring a durable magnesium housing, IP64 rating and 3.9lb weight, the Hammerhead RT is the most rugged, reliable, and lightweight Tablet PC in its class. With legacy dock compatibility and hot-swappable batteries, customers are assured of seamless operations and improved productivity.
Hammerhead MRT
The Hammerhead MRT establishes new standards in features and performance for the highly rugged industrial and military markets. Designed to MIL-STD 810F and IP67 rating, the 5 pound milled aluminum dynamo packs powerful communication solutions. In addition to a Type III PCMCIA slot, the MRT offers a flexible connector module, which allows the unit to be customized with a variety of communication devices such as Taclink® and PCIDM® modems. All Hammerhead MRTs have an internal “flex” space that accommodates a Garmin GPS or an additional radio. A SAASM ready option is also available. The Hammerhead MRT features optimal outdoor viewable displays with a patent pending NVG/NVIS compatible night vision option. Whereas others use outside filter screens, the WalkAbout night vision filter is built into the unit with no blooming effect. The night vision display features variable low light settings down to 0.05 nits. Affording the power, manageability and confidence needed in this extremely rugged environment, WalkAbout’s Hammerhead MRT Tablet PC surpasses the mobility and efficiency offered by other technologies.
Hammerhead RT800
The Hammerhead RT800 features an 800 MHz Mobile Intel® Pentium® III Processor-M with enhanced Intel® Speedstep® Technology in a rugged magnesium housing with molded rubber bumpers for extra protection. The Hammerhead RT800 offers integrated etherenet and a Type III PCMCIA slot that accommodates up to two Type II PC or Cardbus cards and sealed doors that maintain the units’ IP64 rating. Pen tablet and touchscreen versions of the Hammerhead RT line are available with a 10.4″ XGA or SVGA Transmissive display or DRS’s new All-Vis Indoor/Outdoor display, which provides superior viewing in both indoor and outdoor lighting conditions.
Hammerhead RT933
The Hammerhead RT933 includes upgraded features such as 933 MHz Mobile Intel® Pentium® III Processor-M with enhanced Intel® Speedstep® Technology, internal radio options including GPS, CDMA and GPRS, as well as a molded shock absorbing DRS carry case. The Hammerhead RT933 offers integrated etherenet and a Type III PCMCIA slot that accommodates up to two Type II PC or Cardbus cards and sealed doors that maintain the units’ IP64 rating.
Hammerhead XRT
