Raytheon Company has been awarded a task order for CVN 78, the lead ship in the U.S. Navy’s next generation of aircraft carriers, extending the company’s leadership role as the mission systems integrator for the Navy’s family of ships. Financial terms were not disclosed. Raytheon will be the industry lead for warfare systems integration of all onboard weapons systems and electronics operations. Integration will be centered on Raytheon’s proven Total Ship System Engineering approach to a common enterprise computing environment that will maximize multi-mission capabilities. The task order was awarded to Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC, Raytheon’s SeaPort-e prime contractor, as a performance-based cost plus award fee contract. It has a one-year base period, four one-year option periods, and up to seven one-year award terms for a total of 12 years.
15 Apr 05. EnSolve Biosystems has been awarded a contract option by the U.S. Navy to develop a biological treatment system to remove petroleum products from decommissioned ships prior to disposal. The Phase II SBIR grant calls for EnSolve to design a prototype system that can be used to treat the wash water generated during the cleaning process. The system would be based on EnSolve’s patented biotechnology process, which uses naturally occurring microbes to consume emulsified and other hydrocarbon-based wastes in the water to meet regulatory standards for discharge. EnSolve is also teaming with Bath Iron Works under a separate U.S. Navy SBIR contract to develop biological treatment systems for bilge-water treatment to replace the existing mechanical oily water separators currently used by the U.S. Navy. EnSolve is currently marketing commercially a biomechanical bilge-water treatment system for commercial and naval ships. $48,000,000 indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract to provide for Target Exploitation Development and Support. The effort will include making changes to improve performance and be more responsive to operational needs; upgrade the current suite of applications with new versions of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf and newly developed Government-Off-The-Shelf software; support integration testing with various operating environments Department of Defense Intelligence Information System, Theater Battle Management Core Systems, Joint Digital Intelligence Support System, Global Command and Control System-Joint (GCCS-J), GCCS-Maritime, GCCS Integrated Intelligence and Imagery, GCCS-Air Force (GCC-AF), etc., and respond to user mission needs concerning the initialization, operation, and management of the supported suite of applications.
