15 Dec 11. Cassidian Spain recently signed a contract for the development of a new constructive simulator architecture for the Spanish Army. The simulator’s objective is to support training in Command and Control tasks up to brigade level, enabling the course of planned operations to be visualised with the aid of models that simulate troop movements in the field.

15 Dec 11. SELEX Elsag has been awarded a contract to create a new automation and supervision system on the Italian Navy Training Ship “Amerigo Vespucci”. The project encompasses the installation and setting-up of the two main sub-systems: SACIEM (wiring and power plant control automatic system) and SACSEN (ship service control automatic system). It is part of a wider programme of modernization, which includes the replacement of the current power generation, primary distribution and electric propulsion systems.

12 Dec 11. Raytheon Company has received a multimillion-dollar contract to provide International High-Mobility Launchers (HMLs) to the Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF) for its National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS). The HML is a lightweight missile launch platform that can carry up to six AMRAAM missiles mounted on a High-Mobility Multi-Wheeled Vehicle. The contract is part of the Royal Norwegian effort to upgrade, modernize and sustain RNoAF’s NASAMS through the NASAMS Robustness Program. The International HML will provide current and future NASAMS users with increased air defense capability, including C-130 roll-on and roll-off agility. In addition, Raytheon will upgrade electronics for the canister launcher fleet to provide common launch electronics for both canister and HML launchers, for easier maintenance and reduced life-cycle costs.

BAE Systems will provide a range of services to support the U.S. Department of Defense’s Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) as part of a new indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity support contract. The company will participate in bids for a series of task orders over the next five years. The total potential value is approximately $900m for all companies involved. BAE Systems and a team of subcontractors will offer services including research, analysis, training, operations support and the sustainment of information technology. These services will aid JIEDDO’s efforts to counter terrorist and other organizations from using improvised explosive devices. (Source: Yahoo!/BUSINESS WIRE)

13 Dec 11. DRS Systems, Inc., Parsippany, N.J., was awarded a five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with firm-fixed-price delivery orders for the purchase of Spot on Target in support of U.S. Special Operations Command Procurement Division. The estimated contract value is $40,218,000. The work will be performed in Dallas, Texas, and Melbourne, Fla., and ordering will be completed by November 2016.Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.US Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., is the contracting activity (H92222-12-D-0003).

16 Dec 11. DRS Test & Energy Management, Inc., Huntsville, Ala., was awarded a firm-fixed-price contract with a maximum $8,177,405 for digital vehicle distribution boxes. There are no other locations of performance. Using service is Army. There was one response to one solicitation. Type of appropriation is fiscal 2012/2013 Army working capital funds. The date of performance completion is April 15, 2013. The Defense Logistics Agency Land Warren, Warren, Mich., is the contracting activity (SPRDL1-12-C-0054).
