AxleTech International, a General Dynamics (GD) company, announced today that the company’s St. Etienne, France, facility has delivered the first drivetrain and suspension components to Force Protection Europe, Ltd. (FPE) for the United Kingdom’s new Light Protected Patrol Vehicle (LPPV) program. AxleTech is a supply partner to FPE, which produces the Ocelot vehicle for the LPPV program.
30 Jun 11. GE Intelligent Platforms has secured orders from Brimar Limited of Manchester, England for a quantity of GE’s CR12 6U CompactPCI® single board computers. The computers will form part of an intelligent display driver that will provide ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance) video information from vehicle-mounted cameras to the crew of the Foxhound Light Protected Patrol Vehicle (LPPV), as part of the vehicle’s Thales-supplied electronic architecture.

05 Jul 11. Kelvin Hughes has secured a contract to supply the Irish Naval Service with its leading marine navigation and radar surveillance systems. The contract includes an order for two tactical radar systems as well as two Electronic Chart and Display Systems (ECDIS). The tactical radar is based on Kelvin Hughes’ latest generation naval display, the Naval MantaDigitalTM. The system delivers exceptional performance with low through-life costs and can be used as a stand-alone radar. However in this case the radar will be fully integrated with Kelvin Hughes’ MantaDigitalTM widescreen ECDIS. The MantaDigitalTM ECDIS provides an easy-to-use, safe and efficient navigational tool and has been developed in response to the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) mandatory digital carriage requirements for ECDIS.

Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc. today announced that it has been selected by AgustaWestland in Yeovil, UK to provide a custom Vibration Management System (VMS) computer for use on its Rotorcraft Technology Validation Programme (RTVP) demonstrator. The rugged compact VMS computer will be designed and manufactured at the Curtiss-Wright Controls Electronic Systems business unit in Santa Clarita, CA. The VMS computer, featuring custom I/O and conduction-cooled components, will provide the processing to control vibrations within the Main Rotor Head to reduce the vibration in the airframe. Key features of the VMS computer are its small size, low power, high processing capability and low weight (under 2kg). Given the safety critical application, the VMS will be certifiable up to Level A and Level C of DO-254 and DO-178B specifications.
05 Jul 11. Kongsberg has signed a contract with the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (NDLO) for the continuing development of phase II of the joint strike missile (JSM) until 2013. The Nkr543m ($101m) contract is a follow-on to a development contract worth Nkr166m ($30.8m), signed in 2009. The JSM is a new missile that has been designed to meet operational requirements of the F-35 and to be internally carried on the aircraft. The under development missile can also be integrated on other platforms. Norwegian Parliament has recently ratified the acquisition of four F-35s for 2016. (Source: airforcetechnology.com)

Raytheon UK has been awarded a £10m (approximately $16m), four-year contract to provide continued in-service support for both current and legacy U.K. Paveway™ Weapon Systems for the U.K. Ministry of Defence. Raytheon UK will be responsible for key support activities including configuration management, design support, obsolescence, safety management, spares provision and quality assurance.
