05 Nov 09. General Dynamics European Land Systems has entered a contract with the German Bundesamt für Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung (BWB) for the delivery of 20 EAGLE protected Ambulance Vehicles. This contract, which also includes related logistic services, is in addition to the agreement signed in 2008 for the delivery of 198 EAGLE vehicles for the BWB.
26 Oct 09. The Italian Ministry of Defense has signed a 20m euro ($30m) contract to acquire 81 Oto Melara turrets to equip its Iveco Light Multirole Vehicles (LMV), the firm said Oct. 26.
22 Oct 09. French defense procurement agency DGA has chosen Sagem (Safran group) as prime contractor for the Phoenix 2010 program, involving technical and operational tests to improve the efficiency of the French army’s future combat systems. The contract is worth over 10mi Euros and is being conducted with the Land & Joint Systems division of Thales as co-contractor. Phoenix 2010 is a follow-on to the Phoenix 2007 and 2008 programs, for which Sagem was already the industrial coordinator.

A five year contract has been awarded to Babcock, a leading through-life support provider to the MoD and Royal Navy, to provide in-service support for the communications coherency system in Trafalgar class submarines and a real-time messaging system in Vanguard class submarines, and to manage the shore integration facilities for both submarine classes.

05 Nov 09. Barco has selected Wind River’s VxWorks 653 as the foundation for its CDMS-3000 next-generation Control Display and Management System. By standardizing the CDMS-3000 on Wind River VxWorks 653 with commercial, off-the-shelf (COTS) DO-178B certification evidence, Barco reduced time and cost in attaining EASA ETSO-C113 safety certification.

29 Oct 09. The US Army has awarded a contract to Analytic Systems to supply COTS military battery chargers. The charger is specifically designed to recharge a Saft America lithium-ion battery, an integral part of a high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle-mounted weapons system.
In addition to the benefits of recharging the latest lithium-ion batteries, the charger can also be operated as a stand-alone power supply. The battery charger is also the first in a series of watertight power conversion products using a unique new chassis design. (Source: army-technology.com)

BAE Systems, Land & Armaments L.P., U.S. Combat Systems, Minneapolis, Minn., is being awarded an $11,865,674 modification to a previously awarded contract (N00024-05-C-5117) to exercise an option for continuing design and development of the Long Range Land Attack Projectile (LRLAP). LRLAPs are guided flight projectiles that are loaded and fired by the Advanced Gun System, a fully automated, single barrel, 155-mm, vertically loaded, stabilized gun mount. Its primary mission is land attack warfare in support of ground and expeditionary forces beyond the line-of-sight in the DDG 1000 System’s littoral engagement area where precise, rapid-response, high-volume, long-range fire support is required. Work will be preformed in Orlando, Fla., (75 percent), and Minneapolis, Minn., (25 percent), and is expected to be completed by September 2010. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The contracting activity is the Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C.

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products has been awarded a $17m contract to produce gun systems for the Phalanx Block 1B Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) and the Centurion Land-Based Phalanx Weapon System by Raytheon Missile Systems of Louisville, Ky. General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD).
