13 Mar 09. The Czech defence ministry said March 13 it had signed a deal worth €539m ($700m) with U.S. giant General Dynamics for the purchase
of 107 Pandur II armoured vehicles. The vehicles will be made by Austria’s Steyr Daimler Puch, a General Dynamics subsidiary. (Source: Defense News)

QinetiQ has won and started to deliver on a £3.5m contract to investigate how the generation and distribution of electrical power on defence vehicles can be improved by using 610 Volt technologies against a background of ever increasing demands for electrical power. QinetiQ has established and leads a team including BAE Systems and ProVector Ltd to deliver this contract

09 Mar 09. Engineering services provider Frazer-Nash has won a contract to continue its work in the development of the Royal Navy’s new aircraft carriers, the HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales. The company has provided a wide range of engineering services for over 7 years, offering design advice, product development and technical assessment work for the new aircraft carriers. The new contract will see Frazer-Nash continuing its support in all of these areas up until at least June 2010.

12 Mar 09. The DCNS-led SISMARIS* R&D project was launched to further the development of a complete information system and associated technologies for extended surveillance and analysis of maritime traffic. The future system will continuously track all types of vessels at up to 400 km from the coast, compared to the range of 24 km achieved with the world’s most advanced systems today. The 36-month SISMARIS project has a total budget of €6.8 million. On 10 March 2009, the project was granted funding under the Fonds Unique Interministériel** scheme, set up to support collaborative R&D projects under the French government’s competitiveness clusters initiative.

10 Mar 09. ITT Corp., of Roanoke, Va., is being awarded a $11,422,775 firm-fixed-price contract for image intensifier assemblies, 18 MM microchannel wafer high performance tubes, MX-10160 GS in support of U.S. Special Operations Command Procurement Division. The work will be performed in Roanoke and is expected to be completed by May 26, 2011. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was awarded on a competitive basis. The contract number is H92222-09-C-0025.
10 Mar 09. ITT Corporation has been selected by the U.S. Army to provide expertise to its Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI). Under the PEO STRI’s Omnibus Contract II (STOC II), ITT will deliver simulation, training and instrumentation expertise and systems to the U.S. Army warfighter. The indefinite quantity, indefinite delivery (IDIQ) contract awarded to ITT has an estimated ceiling value of $3.1bn with all options exercised, though no task orders have been announced.
13 Mar 09. General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada has awarded a $4.8m contract to JWF Defense Systems of Johnstown, Penn., for the production of 805 Stryker Driver Enhancement Kits. Kits will be delivered between April and June 2009.
