26 Jun 08. Babcock International Group PLC has received an order worth around £20m from the UK Ministry of Defence for a further 72 Jackal 4×4 patrol vehicles.

25 Jun 08. ITT Corporation has signed a $44.9m contract with the Swedish Defence Material Administration, FMV for the Reliability and Modification (REMO) upgrade of their PS-870 coastal/gapfiller radar systems. The REMO 870 program contract, signed on May 30, will upgrade the radars with state-of-the-art processing, transmitter, antenna and display technologies, using commercial off-the-shelf equipment, resulting in improved reliability and autonomous operation. This work is a key component in modernizing Sweden’s national air defense program. Additional options could bring the total contract value to greater than $58m. This contract award follows a very successful series of earlier contracts, valued at more than $2m, that provided FMV with the systems engineering design requirements for the upgraded radar system. The work will be performed at ITT Electronic Systems, Radar Systems in Van Nuys, Calif.
24 Jun 08. Rheinmetall Defence of Düsseldorf has booked an order to supply the Royal Dutch Armed Forces with 81mm mortar ammunition. Covered by a framework contract extending over a three-year period, the order is worth €51m. The framework contract contains an option for extending the agreement twice by one year. For 2008, the Royal Dutch Armed Forces have already activated a first tranche worth €16.5m.
24 Jun 08. Rockwell Collins has been awarded the sixth phase of the Mission Command Trainer® (MCT™) upgrade of the United Kingdom Army’s Aviation Command and Tactics Trainer (ACTT). Valued at $5.5m, this phase of the program includes 60 channels of the EPX-50 Image Generator, 12 Integrated Helmet and Display Sighting Systems, avionics, weapons and after action review upgrades. Rockwell Collins serves as the prime contractor for ACTT. The increased field of view reflects current Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) being used by our front line aircrew on operations. Finally, this latest enhancement will expand the ACTT’s role in facilitating joint pre-deployment training.

23 Jun 08. The Air Force is modifying a firm fixed price contract with Lockheed Martin Corp., Lockheed Martin Aeronautics of Fort Worth, Texas, not to exceed $18m. This action will update the current Peace Onyx III contract/baseline, which is a comprehensive hardware and software aircraft modernization to the Turkish Block 30 C/D, 40 C/D, and 50 C/D aircraft. This effort supports foreign military sales to Turkey. At this time $9,000,000 (FMS Funds) has been obligated. Aeronautical Systems Center, 312 AESG/PKA, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity (FA8615-05-C-6002 P00021).
23 Jun 08. QinetiQ has just been awarded an MOD contract worth almost £24m over the next 10-years by the Harrier Integrated Project Team (IPT) for through-life support on the Harrier Aircraft. The contract supports the IPT in its key functions of delivering long term Harrier availability and capability, through to the Out-of-Service Date (OSD) in 2018.
25 Jun 08. VT Group, through its Support Services Division, has been named preferred bidder to provide initial flying training for all three Armed Forces.
The programme is to provide Elementary Flying Training (EFT), University Air Squadron (UAS) and Air Experience Flights (AEF). VT currently provides a significant part of this activity through its Light Aircraft Flying Task (LAFT) contract. The new contract will extend and expand the scope of this programme and provide incremental growth in this sector.
