CONTRACT NEWS IN BRIEF

12 May 08. GSV IPT takes innovative approach to fitting UOR upgrades to vehicles on operations. General Support Vehicles Integrated Project Team (GSV IPT) has established a CONDO (Contractors Deployed on Operations) agreement with KBR to fit a range of urgent operational requirement (UOR) upgrades to heavy vehicles operating in Afghanistan. This is the first time the IPT has employed contractors in theatre and the upgrades will ensure troops continue to receive the highest levels of protection and comfort. β€œThe fitment of UOR upgrades to Heavy B vehicles deployed on operations remains one of the highest priorities within GSV IPT,” explains Ian Haskell, project manager, GSV IPT. β€œThe preferred option is always to bring equipment up to the accepted theatre entry standard before deployment. However, with the increased number of UORs being fitted, military manpower within operational theatres do not always have the time to fit them. This solution has been extremely successful and ensures troops continue to receive the highest levels of protection and comfort.”
