04 Jul 07. Nammo Buck GmbH/Germany has been awarded a significant contract for Demil of MLRS rockets and pods. The contract was awarded by NAMSA (the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency), on behalf of the Netherlands and UK MoD. The contract has a potential value of approximately 30 Million Euro and covers work over a period of up to 7 years. Nammo Buck will act as the prime contractor, with Nammo NAD AS in Norway as the main sub-contractor. (Source: ASD Network)

05 Jul 07. Tadiran Communications Ltd., has been awarded a contract for the supply of Tadiran Communications’ new generation, advanced, tactical communications equipment and related services to a European customer. The contract, valued at $85m, will be performed over the next five years. (Source: ASD Network)

26 Jun 07. The German procurement authorities have contracted with Rheinmetall Defence to supply three more MASS naval protection systems for German Navy frigates. By 2009, the F123-class frigates Brandenburg, Bayern and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will each be equipped with the four-launcher configuration of the MASS Multi Ammunition Softkill System. The order is worth a total of €6.4m.

28 Jun 07. Finland to buy 18 Hawk jets from Switzerland. Finland is to buy 18 used British Aerospace Systems (BAe) Hawk Mark 66 advanced jet trainers from Switzerland, the Finnish Defence Forces said in a statement Thursday. The total cost is about €41m, including auxiliary equipment and work to render the aircraft airworthy. Finland already operates 49 Hawks of Mark 51 and 51A. Compared with the 51 and 51A, the 66 has a greater top airspeed and can carry more weapons. (Source: Google)

02 Jul 07. The Defence Aviation Repair Agency (DARA) and BAE Systems have signed an extension to their Joint Approach to VC-10 Engineering and Logistics Integration (JAVELIN) Business Agreement – JAVELIN Green – which will see DARA support the aircraft up to its revised out-of-service date (OSD) of 2013. The original JAVELIN Red agreement, signed in 2003, covered the major maintenance of VC-10 aircraft and repair and overhaul of spares. This was extended in 2005 with JAVELIN Amber to include minor and minor star maintenance to the original OSD of 2011. The JAVELIN Green extension adds another two years of maintenance to DARA’s order book and covers approximately 20 additional scheduled servicings. (Source: MoD Defence Contracts Bulletin)

27 Jun 07. Turkey plans talks with KAI for KT-1 basic trainer aircraft
Turkey’s Undersecretariat for the Defence Industry (SSM), Ankara’;s civilian arms procurement agency, is set to begin contract talks with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) over the procurement of at least 36 KT-1 basic trainers. KAI is the only company left in the bidding process following the elimination of Embraer last week — which was bidding with its EMB-314 Super Tucano aircraft following evaluation from a committee consisting of SSM and Turkish Air Force representatives. 26 Jun 07. Merlin Helicopters to arrive imminently from Denmark. Six state of the art Merlin helicopters will be transferred from Denmark to the UK under a memorandum of understanding signed today by both governments. The first of these helicopters will arrive in the UK shortly and will be integrated into the UK fleet, ready for operations in 2008. The Ministry of Defence has also entered into a contract with Agusta Westland to produce six new Merlin helicopters for Denmark as a replacement for the six transferred.

02 Jul 07. The MoD has confirmed that SIGMA aerospace has been awarded a £2m five-year contract to support the Honeywell ALF502R-5 engines operated by No 32 (The Royal) Squadron, The Queen’s Flight (TQF). The Squadron operates two BAE 146-100 aircraft. The contract came into effect on 1 April 2007. (Source: MoD Defence Contracts Bulletin)
