16 May 07. Thales has won a contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (Försvarets Materiel Verk) for the purchase of ACEcom, a control room communication system. Deliveries of the Thales ACEcom solution will begin in August 2007 and will continue through to April 2008.

10 May 07. BAE Systems has been awarded a contract by the UK Ministry of Defence to integrate Lockheed Martin’s Sniper advanced targeting pod on Harrier and provide operational emergency clearance advice. The contract award follows a private-venture funded rapid technology insertion (RTI) programme in 2006 which showed the enhanced target identification and weapon delivery capability that could be gained with the integration of the pod.

08 May 07. The Hellenic Air Force (HAF) has selected Goodrich Corporation’s DB-110 airborne reconnaissance system for use on F-16 fighters. Greece is acquiring 30 Lockheed Martin F-16 Block 52+, advanced multi-role fighters under the Peace Xenia IV Foreign Military Sale (FMS) program. In the initial FMS contract, Goodrich will provide two F-16 reconnaissance pods, a ground exploitation system and aircraft integration. Goodrich’s DB-110 digital, real-time, tactical reconnaissance system allows pilots to capture images day or night using electro-optical sensor technology. Images can then be transmitted to analysts on the ground in real time for immediate exploitation and analysis. (Source: ASD Network)
16 May 07. QinetiQ wins contract to use Tornado F3 for BVRAAM trials. QinetiQ, as prime contractor and systems integrator, has secured a £5.5m contract from the UK MOD to use the Tornado F3 as the alternative test platform to the Typhoon to support trials for the Beyond Visual Range Air-Air Missile (BVRAAM – Meteor) and take development to the systems preliminary design review in September 2007.
08 May 07. QinetiQ wins PECOC defence clothing assessment contract. QinetiQ has competed and won a 16-month contract, valued at over £3.5m, for the Ministry of Defence’s PECOC (Personal Equipment and Common Operational Clothing) Assessment Phase. QinetiQ and a team from the MOD will look to gain a better understanding of possible future requirements, looking at the complete range of fit-for-purpose clothing, load carriage and protective equipment, including helmets and body armour, across the armed services.

Armor Holdings, Inc. announced the receipt of new orders from AM General valued at $60.4m under a blanket purchase agreement to provide armor components for the M1151, M1152 and M1165 Up-Armored HMMWV programs. The Company stated that the work will be performed in 2007 by the Armor Holdings Aerospace and Defense Group at its facilities located in Fairfield, Ohio.
03 May 07. Force Protection Industries, Inc., Ladson, S.C., was awarded an $8,867,449 firm-fixed-priced contract on May 3, 2007 for five JERRV and five Buffalo up-armored vehicles and associated sustainment and training.The sustainment will consist of 90-day consumables, forward deployment blocks, maintenance workshop blocks, field service representatives, operator and maintenance training. This procurement is in support of the Government of Canada under the Foreign Military Sales Program.Work will be performed in Ladson, S.C., and is expected to be completed by May 2008.Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.This contract was solicited as a sole source procurement under the terms of an “International Agreement” as cited under FAR 6.302-4.The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Va., is the contracting activity (M67854-07-D-5039).
