30 Apr 07. Armor Holdings, Inc. announced the receipt of an order valued at approximately $32m from the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence for additional Pinzgauer Protected Patrol Vehicles. The Company stated that the new deliveries will be completed in 2007 with work performed at the Armor Holdings Aerospace and Defense Group’s Pinzgauer facilities located in Guildford, Surrey UK, with vehicle armoring support to be provided by the Aerospace and Defense Group at its facilities located in Fairfield, Ohio.

02 May 07. The UK MoD has awarded BAE Systems a contract for an additional 21 BvS10 Viking armoured all-terrain vehicles. The UK’s Royal Marine Commandos took delivery of an earlier batch of 108 in July 2003. The BAE Systems Hägglunds armoured all-terrain vehicles will be used for transporting equipment for the Watchkeeper unmanned aerial vehicle. Production deliveries will commence second half of 2008 with prototype vehicles being delivered at the end of 2007.

18 Apr 07. Harris Corporation has received contracts valued at $3m from the Irish Defence Forces for Falcon® II tactical communications systems. The Harris Falcon II radios are already widely used by the Irish Defence Forces for peacekeeping missions around the world. Under the terms of the contracts, Harris will provide its RF-5800H HF (High Frequency) manpack radios and accessories. The RF-5800H uses software-defined radio technology to provide advanced waveforms and IP networking capabilities, allowing reliable, long-range voice and data communication under demanding conditions.

02 May 07. BAE Systems will supply a key part for the Spanish Navy’s new S80 submarine programme under a contract signed with Navantia SA of Spain. This is the first submarine export order in more than 20 years for the company. BAE Systems Submarine Solutions will fabricate and assemble fore and aft pressure hull domes for four diesel-electric S80 submarines in its Barrow-in-Furness, shipyard under the terms of the multi million-pound agreement. BAE Systems will also provide technical support and assistance in aspects of pressure hull fabrication to Navantia as the overall S80 programme develops. The domes will be manufactured using a £2mi 2,500 tonne dome press facility which will also be used to create the pressure hull domes for future Astute submarines. The press was purchased from former supplier Motherwell Bridge Steel in Scotland to secure the future supply of the pressure hull domes following the latter’s decision to cease manufacture of the domes. BAE Systems arranged for the massive press to be dismantled, refurbished and then rebuilt in the specialist steel-working facility at the Barrow shipyard.

2 May 07. Cobham Flight Operations and Services joint venture, FB Heliservices (FBH), has secured a £9m contract extension to provide helicopters and support to British Forces Cyprus and the Sovereign Base Areas Administration. Following a successful first four years of operation, the UK Ministry of Defence has exercised options to extend the contract until 31 March 2010. The contract was originally won under competition in 2002.

The U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Virginia, has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems a $43.8m contract for the delivery of Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV) spare parts and systems for developmental testing. This contract is a modification to the existing Marine Corps’ Systems Development and Demonstration (SDD) contract.
