22 Jan 26. The UK Ministry of Defence has awarded BAE Systems a contract worth £453.5m for the full production of a new advanced radar for UK Typhoon aircraft. The contract follows a successful programme development and testing, enabled through long-term UK investment, and marks a major step forward in the Royal Air Force’s (RAF) Typhoon capability. The state-of-the-art radar, known as the ECRS Mk2, will deliver enhanced electronic warfare capability, allowing the aircraft to detect, identify and track multiple targets in the air and on the ground.

The UK has signed a £205m contract extension with QinetiQ to strengthen the RAF’s Typhoon fleet with technical and engineering support. 250 skilled jobs supported by £205 m investment in specialist UK support for the RAF’s Typhoon fighter jets, keeping aircraft mission-ready. Typhoons play a critical role in protecting the UK and our allies, with recent operations in Eastern Europe and countering Daesh.Workers will benefit across the country with jobs at sites including in Lancashire, Lincolnshire and Hampshire. 250 high-skilled jobs have been secured across the country as the MOD today invests over £200 m with British industry to ensure the RAF’s Typhoon fighter jet fleet is ready to protect the UK and NATO allies. Awarded to British company QinetiQ, the work will deliver specialist technical and engineering support to the Typhoon fleet over five years. The £205 m contract shows how the MOD is investing in capabilities across the country, underlining how defence is an engine for growth. Bittium Corporation’s subsidiary, Bittium Wireless Ltd, has today received a purchase order from the Spanish Indra Group for technology and production transfer projects related to the transfer of Bittium Tough SDR technology, and for technology related customer specific development work. The value of the purchase order is EUR 20m, and the projects will start immediately. On 29 December 2025, Bittium announced in a stock exchange release that it had signed a licensing agreement with the Indra Group concerning Bittium’s Tough SDR technology, as well as the first purchase order related to the agreement, valued at EUR 50 m. Under the agreement, Bittium licenses its Tough SDR technology to Indra, who will develop and manufacture with the help of this technology sovereign, high‑performance handheld, vehicular, and manpack radios, focusing primarily on the Spanish market while also retaining the possibility to expand to other countries. If the agreement is implemented according to current forecasts, the total value of the agreement is estimated to be over EUR 120 m. Bittium will continue developing and supplying its own tactical communication products and radios for its customers globally. Bittium has extensive experience in the development of software-defined radio technology and waveforms for tactical communications and devices and software for secure communications. Its solutions include a modular IP-based backbone network and next-generation handheld and vehicular radios as well as ultra-secure mobile devices and software solutions to government and public authorities. 17 Jan 26. EuroTrophy and KNDS Deutschland sign a multi-nation contract to supply the Trophy® APS to four new Leopard 2 A8 user nations: Lithuania, The Netherlands, Czech Republic and Croatia. EuroTrophy GmbH announces that it had signed a 330 M Euros contract with KNDS Deutschland to supply Trophy® Active Protection Systems (APS) for the Leopard 2 A8 programs for Lithuania, The Netherlands, Czech Republic and Croatia. The contract also includes spare parts, courses and trainings packages as well other logistic equipment needed for the through-life-support of the APS. The Leopard 2 A8 includes the Trophy® APS as part of its standard configuration, hence allowing true interoperability and full commonality within the said nations. With this achievement, Trophy® becomes the NATO Active Protection System of choice, enabling the full spectrum of protection capabilities needed in the eastern front, and on the modern battlefield.

19 Jan 26. French DGA Orders CAMCOPTER S-100 VTOL UAVs for French Navy. The French defence procurement agency (DGA) signed a contract with Naval Group in the frame of the SDAM program to procure new VTOL UAVs for the French Navy: the CAMCOPTER S-100F UAVs are being procured as light reconnaissance drones to equip the FREMM frigates. The S-100 contract was inked between the DGA and Naval Group on 29 December 2025. It consists in the procurement of lightweight vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) capability, based on the CAMCOPTER S-100F drone produced by Schiebel and already in service with the French Mistral-class LHDs. According to the French armed forces, the S-100 system extends ship surveillance capabilities beyond the horizon and enables operational missions with a flight endurance of approximately six hours and a maximum payload of 50 kg. 21 Jan 26. MBDA has received a contract to supply additional METEOR beyond visual range air-to-air missiles for the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). Following previous orders, this latest contract for METEOR was awarded to MBDA by the Meteor Integrated Joint Programme Office (IJPO) on behalf of the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw).
20 Jan 26. The German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) have awarded Top Aces a 10-year contract, valued at up to €420m ($488m), for the provision of mission-critical operational training. This agreement, termed the “Contracted Fast Adversary Air” (Vertrag Schnelle Flugzieldarstellung), covers training services for the German Air Force, Army, and Navy. Top Aces, a provider of contracted adversary air (ADAIR) services, will deliver training utilising its fleet of A-4N Skyhawk aircraft equipped with Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar and upgraded Alpha Jets. AeroDefense has announced that the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) awarded it a Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract with a ceiling of USD151bn. “The SHIELD program enables qualified vendors to prototype, test, and deliver capabilities rapidly across multiple mission areas, accelerating the development of solutions critical to national security,” says the company in a press release. “Task orders under SHIELD are awarded competitively as requirements are defined. One such task order is the Golden Dome project, which focuses on deploying drone detection solutions at high-priority federal sites. 20 Jan 26. iDirect Government (iDirectGov), a leading provider of satellite communications to the military and government, today announced it was awarded a contract for the Missile Defense Agency Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract with a ceiling of $151bn. This contract encompasses a broad range of work areas that allows for the rapid delivery of innovative capabilities to the warfighter with increased speed and agility. iDirectGov is eligible to compete with other qualified industry participants for task orders under this contract over the next 10 years.
20 Jan 26. The U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy have sealed a deal with L3Harris Technologies for 34 large T7 robots to support the services in explosive ordnance disposal missions. The multiyear contract award, announced Wednesday, will see robots delivered to the services this year. Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems, Liverpool, New York, has been awarded a $68,514,158 modification (P00075) under a previously awarded contract (FA8730-21-C-0022) for the Three-Dimensional Expeditionary Long-Range Radar. This modification provides for an option exercise to produce three radar systems, and associated production management, travel and other direct costs under the basic contract. The modification brings the total cumulative face value of the contract to $554,062,251 from $485,548,093. The location of performance is Liverpool, New York. The work is expected to be completed by March 16, 2027. Fiscal 2026 other procurement funds in the amount of $68,514,158 are being obligated at time of award. Silentium Defence has been selected as one of several Australian companies to deliver counter-drone capabilities to the Australian Defence Force under LAND 156, a long-term procurement effort valued at more than $1.3bn over the next decade. The South Australia-based company will supply its M8 passive radar system as part of the program, which is focused on strengthening the ADF’s ability to detect and respond to uncrewed aerial threats. The broader effort aligns with Australia’s push to expand sovereign defense technologies and reduce reliance on foreign systems in key capability areas. According to Silentium Defence, the M8 system is designed to detect drones, aircraft and ground vehicles, including targets that do not emit radio frequency signals. Unlike active radar systems, the passive radar technology does not transmit signals, allowing it to operate without revealing its own position. This approach is intended to support operations in contested environments where survivability and discretion are critical. The M8 is described as lightweight and rapidly deployable, with the ability to operate across land, air and littoral environments. The system provides real-time situational awareness and is intended to support force protection and airspace monitoring missions, particularly against small and low-observable threats. The order comprises Rs 332 crore for the supply of counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) technology and Rs 72 crore for training simulators and associated defence equipment. Zen Technologies uses a combination of Radio Frequency (RF) monitoring and detection, video-based identification and tracking, 3D radar detection, RF jamming, kinetic and net-based capture to defeat rogue UAS. Data is integrated within a command centre. An integrated display system provides a view of the threat situation. This display system integrates maps with threat zones.
