02 Apr 25. Chemring announced its latest contract with the UK Ministry of Defence. The contract sits within Chemring’s Roke business, encompassing a wide range of missile defence capabilities and valued at £251m over six years. Roke designs, manufactures and provides upgrade solutions to support the missions of customers globally. Known as the Science & Technology Oriented Research & development in Missile defence (“STORM”), the contract will commence immediately and will see Roke enhance its role as a trusted partner to the UK Missile Defence Centre. Roke’s STORM work will inform critical UK defence decision-making and will play a key role in developing next-generation missile defence capabilities.

01 Apr 25.  Leonardo – The Royal Navy’s submarine-hunting Merlin helicopters will receive world-class maintenance under a £165m contract extension, supporting 1,000 skilled UK jobs.

  • £165m contract with Leonardo to secure upkeep of the Royal Navy’s fleet of 54 Merlin helicopters.
  • Contract supports 1,000 UK jobs with 200 in Somerset and 800 across wider UK supply chain, delivering on the government’s Plan for Change.

01 Apr 25. Elbit Systems Ltd has been awarded an approximately $130 m contract by a European customer for the supply of rockets for the Precise and Universal Launching System (PULS). The contract will be executed over a period of three years. Under the contract, Elbit Systems will supply a variety of advanced rocket systems, including training rockets, the ACCULAR (range of up to 35 km), EXTRA (range of up to 150 km), and the Predator Hawk (range of up to 300 km). These systems are designed to significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the customer’s defense forces, providing a substantial boost in their strategic and tactical operations. The PULS system is an advanced and versatile artillery rocket system capable of launching a wide range of ammunition types from a single platform. It offers precision strike capabilities with an effective range of up to 300 kilometers, making it a highly effective solution for modern battlefield environments.

 

31 Mar 14. L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has signed a long-term agreement with the Dutch Ministry of Defence for delivery of advanced Falcon® IV radios for the FOXTROT program. The agreement is valued up to 1bn euros. The Falcon IV radios will allow immediate interoperability with more than 1 m tactical devices already fielded globally. 28 Mar 25. Mehler Protection, part of Mehler Systems, has been awarded a follow-up contract by Bundeswehr Bekleidungsmanagement GmbH. Under an existing agreement, Mehler Protection will supply the German Army’s Special Forces, including the Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK), with the “Schutzweste SpezKr modular” protective vest system and necessary spare parts.This advanced, modular protective vest system is tailored specifically to the requirements of the Special Forces, providing optimal protection and high wearing comfort for a wide range of demanding missions. A notable distinguishing feature is its design, which provides identical protective performance and weight compared to the existing system. 03 Apr 25. Denmark to purchase 130 armoured personnel carriers from Patria.  The procurement is valued at nearly $270.45m, with funding sourced from the Acceleration Fund. The Patria 6×6 is designed for troop transport and can be adapted for various combat support roles. Credit: Patria Group. Denmark has become a participant in the Finnish-led Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) initiative with the Danish government outlining plans to acquire 130 CAVS units from Patria. The financial commitment is equivalent to roughly €250m ($270.45m). The acquisition strategy involves procuring a smaller quantity of vehicles within the current year followed by a more substantial order in the subsequent year. The country anticipates that the integration of CAVS vehicles will bolster its national defence capabilities. 27 Mar 14. The Polish Ministry of National Defence has signed a deal worth some PLN 6.57bn ($1.7bn) to acquire 111 Borsuk (Badger) tracked infantry fighting vehicles from the country’s state-run defense group PGZ. Under the plan, the Borsuk will replace the Soviet-designed BWP-1 vehicle as the Polish military’s tracked IFV. The March 27 contract marks the first executive deal to be signed within a 2023 framework contract for a total of 1,400 Borsuks and accompanying vehicles. 31 Mar 25. Saab has signed a framework agreement with the Latvian Ministry of Defence for the short-range ground-based air defence system RBS 70 NG and received an order within the agreement. The order value is SEK 2.1bn and deliveries will take place 2026-2030. The order includes RBS 70 NG firing units and missiles as well as trainer units.

 

31 Mar 25. The French defence procurement agency (DGA) has awarded Thales a contract to provide hybrid networking kits for French Army vehicles, an innovative solution that can be installed without the need to make design changes to the platforms.

  • Installed on military vehicles such as the Griffon, VBCI and Serval, the kits provide access to commercial communication services (OneWeb1 and 5G), integrate them with theatre-wide networking capabilities and tie together communication systems at every level from combined/joint forces command to infantry fighting vehicles.
  • With developments in collaborative combat driving a growing need for connectivity, hybridisation solutions will complement existing hardened communications systems (SYRACUSE IV military satellite communications, CONTACT radios, HF radios) to provide higher data rates, longer range capabilities and improved resilience. This hybrid networking technology has been developed in an agile, incremental approach with the DGA and operational users to augment the communication capabilities of French Army vehicles. With current developments in collaborative combat, the ability of the armed forces to deploy operational networks of sensors and effectors calls for enhanced capabilities in terms of massification, usability and resilience of military communication systems. With this innovative hybridisation solution, commercial networks will complement existing hardened communication systems including the LOS radios developed for the ASTRIDE programme, the secure, high-data-rate, jam-resistant military satcom services provided by the SYRACUSE satellites, the latest-generation software-defined radios developed under the CONTACT programme and the MELCHIOR series of HF radios.

Airbus has been selected by the European Space Agency (ESA) and Thales Alenia Space {TAS – a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%)}, the ExoMars industrial prime contractor, to build key systems for the ExoMars lander that will safely place the Rosalind Franklin rover on the surface of the Red Planet. After entry and descent through the Mars atmosphere and a parachute assisted braking phase, the landing platform provided by Airbus will ensure a safe landing on the surface of Mars and support the deployment of the rover onto the surface.

Sweden officially committed to acquiring from Embraer (NYSE: ERJ/ B3: EMBR3), a global leader in the aerospace industry, four C-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft, securing the necessary production slots. The official announcement of this commitment took place during LAAD Defence & Security 2025 in the presence of Peter Sandwall, State Secretary to Minister for Defence from Sweden and Bosco da Costa Junior, president and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security. This announcement follows the recent official signing of an agreement that stipulates that Sweden joins the Netherlands and Austria in the C-390 program.

 

04 Apr 25. Meridian Space, SpinLaunch’s next-generation satellite communication solution, has selected Kongsberg NanoAvionics (NanoAvionics) as its exclusive satellite supplier for the initial tranche of its low Earth orbit (LEO) broadband constellation under a contract valued at 122.5M EUR. The partnership between SpinLaunch and NanoAvionics includes two prototypes, one of which is an in-orbit demonstrator (IOD) mission planned for 2026, as well as the development and serial production of 280 satellites. Beyond the initial batch of 280 satellites, the Meridian Space constellation will grow to at least 1,200 satellites, as outlined in the company’s 2021 spectrum filings. To meet the 280-satellite constellation production schedule, NanoAvionics will ramp up its manufacturing capabilities with the addition of a new assembly and testing facility at its European headquarters in Vilnius, Lithuania. NanoAvionics also aims to continue supporting Meridian Space in scaling the initial network through its experience in serial production and system customization. Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), has signed a new contract worth €51 m with the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) to extend the operational life of the European Satellite-Based Augmentation System (EGNOS). Named LIFEX 1 (Life Extension Phase 1), this contract will ensure that EGNOS V2 continues to provide reliable, secure, and high-performance navigation services for Europe’s aviation, maritime, land transport, mapping and agricultural sectors beyond 2028. EGNOS system enhances the accuracy, reliability and integrity of positioning signals by improving the performance of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), such as GPS and, in the future, Galileo. As part of this contract, Thales Alenia Space will address EGNOS V2 critical system upgrades and infrastructure improvements, reinforcing the system’s resilience and operational durability. Atom Computing has been selected by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to explore how Atom’s highly-scalable neutral atom technology will realize utility-scale quantum computing in the near term. The Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI), an expansion of the existing Underexplored Systems for Utility-Scale Quantum Computing (US2QC) program, aims to determine the possibility of building an industrially useful quantum computer much faster than conventional predictions. Atom Computing has been selected for Stage A of the QBI program, which focuses on the conceptual description of a utility-scale quantum computer that has a plausible path to realization in the near term. As part of the program, Microsoft has agreed to also provide algorithmic support and error correction codes to Atom Computing. To realize a utility-scale quantum computer, Atom Computing leverages the scalability and flexibility of its technology, as well as multiple critical platform capabilities such as high-fidelity gate operations, all-to-all qubit connectivity, 1,000+ physical qubits, long coherence times, and mid-circuit measurement with qubit reset and reuse. 03 Apr 25.  IonQ (NYSE: IONQ), a leader in the quantum computing and networking industries, today announced that it has been selected for the first stage of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI). 03 Apr 25. Leidos (NYSE:LDOS) today announced a new contract to provide signals intelligence (SIGINT) capabilities, engineering, analysis and reporting tools to the National Security Agency (NSA). The base year plus four option years single-award contract has a ceiling value of $390m. Leidos will perform a wide range of technical, engineering, systems administration and management functions. Tasks include delivery of SIGINT capabilities, analysis and reporting tool modifications, engineering services, lab and testbed management, integration and testing, deployment, training, and sustainment of a subset of NSA systems. 02 Apr 25. The United States Space Force (USSF) awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) two national security contracts, including a technology demonstration for in-space refueling. These contracts build on Northrop Grumman’s proven on-orbit satellite servicing and refueling innovation, including first-of-its-kind mission extension services that protect critical space assets in geosynchronous orbit for both U.S. government and commercial partners.

  • Space Systems Command (SSC) awarded Northrop Grumman a contract for the Elixir refueling payload program, which will enable the Space Force to refine tactics and procedures for rendezvous and proximity operations, docking, refueling, and undocking of on-orbit vehicles – foundational capabilities for servicing, mobility and logistics.
  • Under the Elixir program contract, the company will design, build and integrate a refueling payload onto a space vehicle and demonstrate refueling with a demonstration client satellite.
  • Under a separate contract, Northrop Grumman has been awarded a multi-unit award of four of the company’s proven ESPAStar spacecraft, one of which will host the refueling demonstration payload on its ride to space.

02 Apr 25. Ecuador – M4A1 Rifles and Support. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Ecuador of M4A1 Rifles and Support and related elements of logistics and program support for an estimated cost of $64m. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today. The Government of Ecuador has requested to buy M4A1 rifles. The following non-MDE items will also be included: Magpul PMAG M4 magazines; technical manuals; training and support; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $64 m. This proposed sale will support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of Ecuador, an important force for political stability and economic progress in South America. The proposed sale will improve Ecuador’s capability to meet current and future threats by improving the ability of its armed forces to conduct and execute military operations to counter transnational organized crime. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region. The principal contractor will be determined after case implementation. At this time, the U.S. Government is not aware of any offset agreement proposed in connection with this potential sale. Any offset agreement will be defined in negotiations between the purchaser and the contractor. 03 Apr 25. Ashok Leyland to deliver mobility vehicles to Indian Armed Forces. Indian vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland has signed contracts worth more than INR7bn (USD81.7m) with the Indian government to deliver land mobility vehicles to the Indian Armed Forces. An announcement made by Ashok Leyland on 28 March said that the vehicles will be used for transporting troops, logistics, and “specialised mobility requirements” associated with the country’s close-in weapon systems (CIWS) programme. 03 Apr 25. Babcock International Group (Babcock) has been awarded a proof-of-concept contract by the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) which will enable Ukraine’s armed forces to 3D print military equipment. Babcock as prime contractor will work with UK defence technology company QinetiQ to create digital drawings and Computer Aided Design (CAD) files of military equipment which then can be used to print parts in country. This innovative technology support comprises reverse engineering older parts to understand their function and design, enabling them to be digitally recreated on demand. Digital files will enable the manufacturing of parts during operations using a variety of methods including 3D printing, demonstrating Babcock’s ability to deliver defence support capability whenever and wherever it is required.

 

03 Apr 25. Hanwha Aerospace has announced the signing of a new USD 253m contract with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to supply components for 100 additional K9 Vajra-T self-propelled howitzers to the Indian Army. The contract signing ceremony took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in the defense partnership between South Korea and India. This second contract follows the successful delivery of the initial 100 units ordered in 2017, which demonstrated exceptional performance across India’s diverse operational environments. The new contract marks a significant advancement in the established production framework. While the first K9 Vajra-T program achieved over 50% local production, the new contract aims to increase this to 60% through expanded industrial cooperation.

28 Mar 25. HAVELSAN, a leading technology-focused organisation in the Turkish defence industry, continues to strengthen its international collaborations. In this context, an important agreement was signed on March 27, 2025, between HAVELSAN and the Chilean Navy. Under this agreement, the ADVENT Combat Management System (CMS), renowned for its advanced command-and-control capabilities, will be provided for the modernisation of two Frigates in the inventory of the Chilean Navy. The project is scheduled to be completed within four years. 02 Apr 25.  The Boeing Co., St. Louis, Missouri, is awarded a $133,500,000 firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to an order (N6134022F0001) against a previously issued basic ordering agreement (N6134019G0002). This modification is adding scope to procure P-8A training systems phase two software development, integration and device installation for the government of South Korea, to include one operational flight trainer, one weapons tactics trainer, one maintenance electronic classroom, and one training system support center as well as associated electronic classroom instructor led training. Additionally, this modification provides logistics, engineering and management technical support required for the procurement, build, inspection and acceptance of the hardware for the P-8A training systems. Work will be performed in St. Louis, Missouri (80%); and Pohang, South Korea (20%), and is expected to be completed in October 2028. Foreign Military Sales funds in the amount of $133,500,000 will be obligated at the time of award, none of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This action was not competed. 02 Apr 24. Embraer (NYSE: ERJ/ B3: EMBR3), a global leader in the aerospace industry, announced today at LAAD Defence & Security the selection of the Super Tucano aircraft as the new surveillance and protection platform for Panama’s National Air and Naval Service (SENAN). The announcement, which is part of the entity’s program to structure and expand operational capacity, will largely benefit the national security project underway in the country.

 

28 Mar 25. HAL – India signs $7bn deal for 156 combat helicopters in modernisation push. India will buy 156 combat helicopters for its air force and army in a deal worth over $7.3bn, the defence ministry said on Friday, marking one of the biggest purchases this financial year in the country’s drive to modernise its military. The dual-engine ‘Prachand’ helicopter manufactured by Indian warplane maker Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HIAE.NS) is powered by engines co-developed with France’s Safran (SAF.PA) and can operate at an altitude of 5,000 metres and above. 03 Apr 25. MHI –  Japan develops new missiles designed to repel an invasion. Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has clinched a deal to develop new long-range, precision-guided missiles in a 32bn yen ($216m) contract for the Japan Self-Defense Force. The Ministry of Defense indicated in a news release April 1 that the contract is part of plans to boost standoff missile capabilities as the Asian nation faces multiple regional threats. The system gives aircrews full situational awareness, radar warning and precision direction finding of radio frequency threatsRAAF C-130J integration takes advantage of commonality with a current United States Department of Defense program of record, reducing lifecycle costs and enabling interoperability.

Northrop Grumman Systems Corp., Rolling Meadows, Illinois (CAGE 26916), has been awarded a $175,646,426 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for an AN/ALQ-251 Radio Frequency Counter Measure system modified for use by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). This contract provides for design, test, production, repair, support, and program management to develop the new configuration AN/ALQ-251 required by the RAAF C-130J-30 program. The location of performance is Rolling Meadows, Illinois, and is expected to be complete by March 27, 2029. This contract involves foreign military sales to Australia. This award is the result of a sole-source acquisition. Foreign Military Sales funds in the amount of $175,646,426, will be obligated at the time of award.
