13 Sep 05. Roush makes step change in global defence business. Deliveries have begun of Roush’s all-new lightweight 6×6 wheeled platform. The company now plans to develop the vehicle for a wide range of applications – beyond the specific requirement for which the unit was designed. The new platform features fully independent front suspension and a ‘walking beam’ rear bogey – supporting an ultra-light honeycomb aluminium chassis. Full-time 6×6 all-wheel-drive is delivered from a 1.9-litre mechanically fuelled, naturally aspirated diesel engine, via fully automatic transmission and a torque converter. Kerb weight for the base platform of just 795 kilograms – which permits a payload capacity of over 1000 kilograms.
