07 Jun 06. Contract Negotiation: National Audit Office (NAO) Report. The NAO published a Report covering aspects of MoD equipment procurement: Using the contract to maximise the likelihood of successful project outcomes. 13 MoD case studies, five commercial case studies and three overseas military case studies (Australia, the Netherlands and the US) are compared in an Appendix.
Comment: The Report, which will mainly be of interest to the procurement specialist, is part of a series in which the NAO examines MoD procurement practices. The two earlier Reports were published as a Consultation Document on 26 Mar 04 and as HC 30 on 20 May 05. All the Reports are available from TSO and from The Parliamentary Bookshop (Tel: 020-7219 3890), with the above being HC 1047 for £9:25. [HC 1047 includes a booklet ‘Contracting Strategies Tool’. The diagram on page 3 of the booklet is misprinted in that ‘Main Gate’ is shown as occurring after ‘in-service’ (!).
