The Israeli defence forces (IDF) are analysing some new versions of Iranian made armed UAV’s that were intercepted after they were launched by the Hezbollah terror organization from Lebanon and Syria .
Sources say that first indications point to a ” meaningful” upgrades compared with earlier versions.
A senior source told Battle Space that the Iranian armed UAV ” have made a big leap forward after Teheran exported huge numbers of them to Russia to be used in Ukraine. The money they received from Moscow helps them to upgrade their products ”
While the Russian defence industry is busy supplying the needed hardware for the war in Ukraine , Iran is developing new systems that will also find their way to the Russian armed forces. Since the beginning 0f 2023 the Iranians have supplied Russia with a great number of armed UAV’s used against the Ukrainian forces.
Now the Iranian are moving forward and are displaying new more advanced systems. It seems according to the Israeli sources that some of the upgraded versions found their way to Lebanon and Syria and now are being by Hezbollah , one of Iran’s main proxies.
According to a report in Middle East media research institute (MEMRI) the Iranian TV late last year unveiled one of the new armed UAV.
Iran’s Army showcased its Karrar interceptor UAV on a December 10, 2023 show on Channel 1 (Iran). According to the show, the Karrar UAV is equipped with the Majid air-to-air missile, and it can intercept both manned and unmanned aircraft.
According to the report dozens of Karrar interceptor UAVs, equipped with Majid air-to-air missiles, were added to the battle array of the army’s air-defense force.
“This is the Iranian-made interceptor Karrar UAV. It has high maneuverability in intercepting targets nearing our country’s airspace.”
