The Next FBCB2 – Mounted Family of Computing Systems (MFoCS)
MFoCS provides modular computing capabilities for military ground vehicles and weapons platforms. The family of common computer and display technology adds capability while reducing the overall size, weight, power and cost of the systems currently installed on ground combat vehicles and platforms around the world.
The system supports situational awareness, command and control and maneuver capability using next-generation computing and display hardware at three levels — basic, intermediate and advanced. It can improve the command and control, maneuverability, logistics and situational awareness of a range of platforms and weapon systems, from ground vehicles to armored vehicles to rotary wing aircraft and more.
MFoCS systems include dismountable tablet PCs, processor units, keyboards, removable solid-state storage, display units, cabling and installation kits designed for various platforms — all engineered rugged for continuous operation in a wide range of military and combat environments.
MFoCS represents the evolution of Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2) following years of combat experience. MFoCS is a common computing solution that consolidates the requirements from a range of military programs, users and standards, while reducing the size and cost and upping the computing power.
MFoCS integrates existing FBCB2 future Joint Battle Command-Platform (JBC-P) and Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) capability into a powerful, modular and flexible hardware architecture.

Polaris – Small Package RF Tactical Tuner with Big Performance
Polaris, DRS’ newest, smallest and powerful tactical radio frequency tuner, is a multichannel VHF/UHF wideband tuner. It’s small in size, weight and power makes it well-suited for applications such as identification and geo-location of RF interference and critical capabilities for emerging commercial cognitive radio networks; in addition to spectrum monitoring, signal intelligence technology, direction finding and beam forming applications.
Weighing less than 2.5 pounds, the Polaris, fits easily in the palm of a hand and consumes little power. Its ruggedized casing provides for optimal performance in harsh environments. Able to operate in a wide temperature range, the device, available in analog or digital format, is suitable to withstand the rigors of high-altitude flight in unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Polaris is the next-generation of RF front ends, enhanced from its Nanoceptor predecessor. The Nanoceptor was the gold standard in ruggedized RF tuners in 2004, and now Polaris will be breaking new ground and raising the bar even higher. When compared to the Nanoceptor, Polaris is a quarter of the size and has twice the frequency coverage and double the bandwidth at a considerably lower price per channel.

Accurate Shooting from the Hip
DRS’ Enhanced Night Vision Goggle III and Family of Weapon Sight (Individual) programs combine to create the new integrated night vision and thermal weapon system for the U.S. Army. Designed to improve lethality, mobility, survivability and situational awareness for dismounted troops in degraded lighting and weather conditions, this third-generation goggle vastly improves situational awareness and is expected to change the way ground troops fight.
Connected through a wireless system, the weapon-mounted thermal sight is designed to transmit imagery to the night vision goggle. This allows troops to stay protected while raising their weapon over an obstacle or around a corner, no longer exposing themselves to enemy fire to aim and fire their weapon. The technology also allows soldiers to acquire and engage more rapidly.
DRS has a long history of providing the U.S. military with leading thermal weapon sight and night vision technology and the company will be providing this future capability to ensure our warfighters remain the best equipped in the world. These devices are a result of years of DRS-led innovation and development through U.S. Army and DRS investment, the result is a device that affordably and significantly improves the ability of troops to see and engage targets more rapidly in degraded combat conditions.
This game-changing technology will provide U.S. troops with more safety and the technological edge on the battlefield while vastly improving mission effectiveness.

Super-Stable Masted Recon On-the-Move
DRS’ Surveillance and Battlefield Reconnaissance Equipment – High Definition (SABRE-HD) is a mast-mounted, state-of-the-art ground vehicle mission equipment package combining full-spectrum reconnaissance, surveillance, and precision fires targeting capability with world-class stabilization, elevation, and integrated network capabilities.
SABRE-HD is not a sensor system, but a “system for any sensor.” It incorporates a highly modular sensor suite that integrates different types of radar, day and thermal imagers, and laser systems. It then fully optimizes the combined performance of these sensors by mounting them on a highly stabilized and ruggedized gimbal and mast and connects them with any type of battle command network.
This potent combination provides scouts, forward observers, and tactical air controllers with the ability perform reconnaissance and targeting at extended ranges, to slew from sensor to sensor, to operate while behind protected battle lines or on the move in rugged environments, and to share precision fires and Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems targeting data across battle command networks.

Missile Warning System for Small Combat Helicopters
DRS’ Distributed Aperture Infrared Countermeasure, or “DAIRCM,” is an aircraft survivability system approach that utilizes a single sensor for both 2-color IR missile warning and wide field of view gimbal for threat countermeasure. Additional capabilities of the sensor include hostile fire indication, laser warning, limited degraded visual environment capability, and has distributed sensors available for providing 360-degree situational awareness.
The small, lightweight system is designed to protect Army and Marine helicopters from “infrared-guided threats,” and can replace much heavier federated systems that do the same job in larger helicopters.
DRS’ DAIRCM system will provide military helicopter pilots more autonomy to fly missions in areas they were once not able to fly because of threats. The small size weight and power allows for more fuel, more ammunition or other mission-specific systems to be added to the aircraft. Its lower cost will also allow additional aircraft to be fitted with this technology.
Stop Towing Generators in Combat
DRS’ rugged, vehicle inverters meet rising demands for exportable power on military vehicles, and provide enhanced stationary and on-the-move electrical power for patrol and combat operations.
Our 10kW export power inverter reliably exports 28VDC battery power to clean 120VAC power to power mission critical systems as well as an array of gadgets including, computers, sensors and radios.
Designed to out-perform the rest in harsh environments, our inverter is sealed sand, dust, and water and is submersible up to 1 meter without compromising performance.
Our inverters are a game changing replacement for on-board or tow-behind generators, turning vehicles into reliable power sources, simplifying operations, reducing logistical burdens, and allowing greater productivity and cost efficiency.
